Santorum Suggests Obama Preferable to "Etch-A-Sketch" Romney.

Rick Santorum's latest attempt to use a Mitt Romney aide's "Etch-A-Sketch" remark against the Republican front-runner instead gave his rival a chance to fire back on Thursday, after Santorum seemed to say he'd rather see President Obama reelected than send Romney to the White House.

Speaking at an event in Texas, Santorum again made the case that Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom's comments Wednesday on CNN about a "reset" of the campaign if Romney clinched the nomination showed the former Massachusetts governor's efforts to appeal to conservatives were insincere.

"You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a little different than the person in there," Santorum told a crowd in San Antonio, according to NBC News. "If you're going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch-A-Sketch candidate of the future."

What a sanctimonious jackass. I didn’t like him when he endorsed Specter the Defector, don’t like him now.

Romney does not and will not support any of the things listed. I don’t know why some here live in a fantasy world in which Romney has not been supporting conservative causes, when in fact he ran as the conservative alternative (endorsed by Santorum for that reason) 4 years ago.

Romney is pro life, opposes gay marriage. Opposes illegal immigration, more strongly than Newt. Is for lower taxes and reducing government. Opposes Obamacare.

These are facts. All the constant recitation of Romeny holding the exact opposite positions, is fantasy.

If you don’t trust him fine, but it’s also a fact that Newt and Rick have given plenty of reason to question whether they would govern as true conservatives.

The fact that all politicians are untrustworthy on some level is a little fact of life some of you don’t seem to have discovered.

If the Etch-a-sketch candidate gets the nomination. I’m voting 3rd party.

I've been thinking about this, P-M, and I think you are right, although I have one caveat.

The objective for me must be to try to win.

It is good to cast a principled vote, or even a protest vote, against the 2 liberal parties, but how much better to begin to build a legitimate, conservative alternative or to put energy into the strengthening of a 3rd party that already has made progress in creating a viable conservative party?

NY-10, Dede baby!!! And....Pelosi hugging, and Sharpton kiss-up!!! If you would just keep an open mind, you would be amazed what you will learn!!! And....by the way, Newt Gingrich is going nowhere fast. You may not like that thought, but....that is the real world. Have you looked at his numbers recently!!! Objectively, both Santorum and Gingrich blew their chances, simply by their own action and words!!! I know you do not like to hear the truth, but....the truth is the truth!!!

I only pray & wish your energy and determination was being put forth to destroy POTUS Obama politically then being spent idolizing a going nowhere Gingrich!!! Obama is the real enemy within our buxom!!! Wake up to reality, your future, your children’s future and our country’s future is at stake....and, you are rambling on about someone who has no chance at all to become the POTUS. Shucks, that’s like wishing to eat swiss cheese on the moon and believing it.

Freepers aren't running for president and their words won't be used in an Obama ad for reelection.

If people agree with him, then they should like how it can be used in an Obama ad for reelection.

Some people just hate Santorum.

Obimbo’s not a blatent socialist, he’s a blatent Marxist. And that’s the key between Mittens and Barky - Mittens, at least, won’t put other blatent Marxists on the Supreme Court. We now have two, we can’t abide any more.

Not if you listen to Santorum, he prefers Obama over Romney.......this year. In 2008 Santorum couldn’t give enough praise to Romney. Santorum is a political whore and I will keep the faith with Newt Gingrich, thanks anyway.

I’m sorry but if you think Romney will be worse than Obama you are not dealing with reality.

There are too many reasons to list but then what else are we here for.

First, Romney’s positions are conservative now, they became more conservative even as he was in Mass. but in any event he has put forward a straight out conservative platform and he did the same in 2008.

Next, Romney would have a conservative republican Congress, whereas if conservatives stay home to defeat Romney you may actually give Obama a more favorable liberal Congress.

Next, there is no way Romney will appoint or a republican senate approve another Elena Kagan on the US Supreme court.

Next, did you notice Eric Holder has made the US Attorneys a disgrace and is pursuing a divisive racial agenda?

Next, all federal judges would be recommended by the REPUBLICAN senator from their state. That’s how it works, whereas now democrat liberals are picking judges, lifetime judges, throughout the land.

Next, Obama is DISARMING us, right down to our nuclear deterrent, he will get us killed. Romney supports a US military second to none.

Next, Romney strongly supports the state of Israel.

Next, Romney strongly opposes illegal immigration, so much so he may have trouble getting some hispanic votes.

Next, Romney is pro energy, pro ANWR drilling, pro offshore drilling, pro Keystone pipeline. Have you heard of Energy Sec Chu who doesn’t own a car (Romney has at least 2 American made Caddies) and who admits he is trying to do away with oil use?

Solyndra?

Kathleen Sebelius. Enough said.

Free contraceptives for all, while death panels cut cancer treatments and leave old people to die with “pain pills”?

Abortion? Obama is pro killing late term babies that survive abortions. Romney is pro life.

Obama is giving our missile defense secrets to the Soviets.

Government spending - trillions wasted in stimulus, more to follow.

Government bailouts - Romney opposed the auto bailouts, which really were turning the automakers over to the unions and destroying investors’ capital.

Guns? Are you kidding me? Holder intends to propogandize gun owners out of existence. Project gun walker???? Obama referring to “clinging to guns and bibles”.

This is a partial list.

I support Newt and hope he stays till the end. At least it gives me hope for a miracle. Unfortunately, I've concluded that the very things I like about Gingrich just don't seem to appeal to enough voters. I show his speeches to coworkers and friends and many just say he sounds too "strident" or too "opinionated". I guess, at least so far, Newt is not coming off to the public as the happy warrior I see.

I see that too. IMO, it's because most people don't really listen for ideas and truth. They are seeking to be entertained at all times, because that is what they have been trained (and continue to train themselves) to do. We look at images displayed for us, and naturally choose entertainment value over coherence and common sense, because it's more embarrassing to be fat or unattractive than to hold to stupid and hateful Marxist ideas.

Television has truly destroyed our American culture.

Imagine how different things would be if we had to read the writings of the candidates instead of watching them writhe, slip, and dodge as they struggle with the camera people. "Game face" indeed.

IMO, the end came when Reagan failed to cut off the cancer that Jimmy Carter inflicted upon us with the Department of Education. Bill Ayers and his fellow travelers took it from there, producing America hating Marxist college grads for the past 30 years. They now infest the entire government media complex. Armies of statist, ivy league lawyers (both Obamas come to mind) writing legislation to empower government and themselves.

Soon the memory of freedom and liberty will be gone. Everything comes from the government, either directly or by permit.

Santorum endorsed Romney 3 yrs ago and now if Santorum is not the candidate for president he will endorse Obama. Better believe he just gave the democrats a great campaign ad.
This will be Vesty’s swan song.

Maybe you should try commenting on what Santorum actually SAID, rather than making garbage up. . . .

__________________________________________________________

What he actually said was that it would be better to stay with what we have, the known, than Romney the unknown.

As long as there was any chance that anyone but Romney could possibly go up against Obama, I supported anyone but Romney. But anything, even Romney, is better than Obama in my opinion. I don’t know how anyone could let Obama win by not voting for the Republican nominee. I mean, I hate Romney, but Romney did go through the process and he is going to be the nominee. The alternative is much, much worse. And Conservatives that can let Obama waltz back into the White House, I almost understand them, but I can’t really understand them.

VERY WELL SAID. This exactly, 100% mirrors my feelings as well. 100%. I am just a tiny bit mollified that maybe he won't throw the 2nd Amendment under the bus because he's been endorsed by Ted Nugent! 2nd Amendment Ted is my single hope that the gun issue will at least stay off the floor of the Congress (both houses) for awhile. It also depends on who he picks as his running mate. But if the NUGE endorses, it gives me some hope at least.

Santorum’s comments are red meat for the left. The campaign for the Republican presidential nomination should only center on obama’s complete failures as a president, commander-in-chief and diplomat.

There are innumerable issues that can and should be focused upon rather than contending that we should retain obama and allow him to completely destroy our culture and nation.

Mitt is NOT my personal choice for the nomination, but if he gets it, I will rally around him for the sake of our country and her future.
