I think it does it is the way the witness was speaking about it. I read it a few times
“”The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: ‘help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911,” he said.” - Zimmerman had a red sweater on

“When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point,” John said.”

So the witness looked down from upstairs I guess of his home and saw the person who he had seen beating up the person with the red sweater(Zimmerman in red sweater) lying on the ground and presumably dead at that point.

Zimmerman finally just got smart and shot his assailant.

OK from what you wrote, it looks like the witness first saw that zimmerman was being pummeled by trayvon, then by the time the witness got upstairs and looked out again, Zimmerman had turned the tables on his attacker.
Looks like justified self defense to me.
