In Trayvon Martin shooting, background of George Zimmerman can confound, confuse (expelled from CC)

..."[George] Zimmerman's life was not without difficulties. In 2001, when he was 17 or 18, he was the victim of a minor criminal assault, said Manassas police Sgt. Eddie Rivera. The city's computer records do not provide details of the crime.

In school, Zimmerman hinted at ambitions in the business world. He joined a Future Business Leaders of America club. And in his senior yearbook, he wrote: "I'm going to Florida to work with my godfather who just bought a $1 million business."

In Sanford, Zimmerman shifted his plans, with hopes of becoming a law enforcement officer. NPR reported that he had taken a 14-week class at the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, and he was enrolled at Seminole State College until the school kicked him out this week, citing safety concerns.

He became the self-appointed protector of the streets around his home, although his neighborhood watch organization was not officially registered. Over the past eight years, he called the Police Department at least 46 times with reports of various sightings. In 2005, according to police records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel and other media, Zimmerman was twice accused of either criminal misconduct or violence. He had a concealed-weapon permit and had a black Kel-Tec semiautomatic handgun and a holster the night Martin died.....

Jared Lee Loughner and George Zimmerman comparison...I don’t think so.

I think he got expelled after the shootings , this could be a Duke and CNN payoff to him if the facts come out he didn’t do anything wrong.

Zimmerman’s been tried and convicted in the media.

All that’s left now is the hanging.

Excellent research by the media. Now, when are they going to do the same for Obama?

If he was kicked out “this week” it would have been well after the incident and most likely due to blowback and the death threats he has received.

Yes, he was expelled after the shooting and it isn’t because they fear what Zimmerman will do.

It is because the school is fearful of all the crazy mob gathering in Fl to hang Zimmerman before the justice system can do its job.

This whole thing is spinning WAY out of control.

I stand corrected!

He is still out and the school decided to remove him after the fact and since the uproar.

I hadn’t been following WHEN this shooting happened.

Thanks!

Excellent point! We also haven’t seen much about Trayvon, his background and family. If they are using a fine-toothed comb, then everyone should get the same treatment.

Indeed—But you’ll recall that Jewell was ultimately found to be innocent.

I half-suspect the same outcome in this incident.

And is it just a coincidence that like Zimmerman AND Loughner, I’ve heard that you also enjoy eating, drinking, and breathing?

Exactly. I want to know all about the Martin family and especially why Trayvon was kicked out of school.

Good Info if true, but if someone is pounding your face in deadly force may be used. Please note: if he were a trouble maker, then why did he possess a CCW. A background check is required in order to issue one by the Sheriff’s Department in that county.

What could have been done better is a press conference held after the shooting and the public made aware of what went down and if the shooting were justified and or under a continued investigation to find the truth.
Unanswered questions breed suspicion, distrust and civil unrest. The Police Chief should have taken care of this along with the DA.

If I see someone unusual in my neighborhood, then I will professionally inquire about their reason for being in the area.

I suggest you wait and see if the DA is going to a grand jury with this case. NO one is a perfect angel in life, so let’s see if the Grand Jury issues a true bill or a no bill. Please remember, there is a presumption of innocence prior guilt.

Zimmerman created the situation he presently finds himself in by being an overzealous deputy dog. With that said, when you distill it down to the facts as we know them, it's difficult to conclude he's guilty of anything. Basically, Zimmerman got out of his car, accosted Trayvon, Trayvon attacked him, and Zimmerman shot him in self defense.

I know the peripheral stuff tugs at our emotions such as: Zimmerman probably did follow the kid bc he was black. Zimmerman had fantasies of police grandeur and did not know what he was doing. Trayvon was a completely innocent kid. Zimmerman was following Trayvon which scared Trayvon. Even though all of this is true and heart breaking, it doesn't change the fact that Trayvon probably made the first physically aggressive move.

The bottom line is this is one big mess. Zimmerman is an idiot and if he does get the murder sentence it's not like I would weep for him.

In the bigger picture of politics, I bet the media and the Dems thought Zimmerman was as white as a sheet when they latched onto this story. By the time they found out Zimmerman was Hispanic from a multiracial family it was probably too late. I see the media describing the shooter as a white Hispanic. The reporting is pathetic.

If the GOP was any good at politics, they would accuse the Dems of inflaming racial hatred between blacks and Hispanics.

“Zimmerman created the situation he presently finds himself in by being an overzealous deputy dog.”

Everyone is allowed to protect their property and loved ones; his 46 calls to the police, while being used to smear him, actually vindicate him of the vigilante charge - he wanted the police paid to protect him & his to do what they were paid for.

This guy will get a lot of sympathy from anyone who lives near “the frontier”.

Who footed the bill for the expensive posters printed on store bought sticks? Do the posters have printer’s union bug on them?

The posters, sticks, and protest are pure unadulterated propaganda for the racist criminal enterprise that is the Democrat party.
