Early results from exit polls of Louisiana Republican presidential primary voters show Rick Santorum carried the state with a broad base of enthusiastic supporters and his widest margins of the campaign over Mitt Romney among the conservatives and evangelicals who have lifted his campaign across the South.

True believers: About two-thirds of those who turned out today said they strongly backed their candidate, among the highest levels seen in entrance and exit polls conducted during this year's nomination contest. Santorum was the primary benefactor of voters' enthusiasm. Among the most fervent voters, Santorum topped Romney by double-digits, while the two men split those who were less certain about their choice.

“Santorum was the primary benefactor of voters’ enthusiasm.”

Compare Rick’s ENTHUSIASTIC voters, with Mitt’s voters, many of whom only voted for Mitt because they MISTAKINGLY think he’s the best candidate to beat Obama (but they don’t like Mitt’s politics).

Santorum is the best of a bad bunch. Mitt won’t get my vote. And yes I understand the implications. The Republicans can’t keep serving shite sandwiches and expect me to eat them. I won’t.

Newt is not Reagan’s “successor.” Is my sarcasm detector broke? Maybe. Listen to a few of Reagan’s speeches and then tell me that the solutionist Gingrich in anyway compares. Gingrich has a plan called better government. Reagan’s plan was less government. My work is done here.

I love Newt and his ideas, but he is no Reagan and he needs to evaluate whether he is helping or hurting if he can’t win in the South.

Pray for America

I was simply quoting Nancy Reagan. She said “Ronnie” passed the torch to Newt.

Louisiana is heavily Catholic and I am sure that helped Santorum a lot. I would be perfectly happy with Santorum but I think Newt would be more effective in maneuvering around Washington.
