Justices poised to strike down entire healthcare law

The court’s conservatives sounded as though they had determined for themselves that the 2,700-page measure must be declared unconstitutional.

"One way or another, Congress will have to revisit it in toto," said Justice Antonin Scalia.

Agreeing, Justice Anthony Kennedy said it would be an "extreme proposition" to allow the various insurance regulations to stand after the mandate was struck down.

Meanwhile, the court's liberal justices argued for restraint. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the court should do a "salvage job," not undertake a “wrecking operation." But she looked to be out-voted.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. said they shared the view of Scalia and Kennedy that the law should stand or fall in total. Along with Justice Clarence Thomas, they would have a majority to strike down the entire statute as unconstitutional.

We need a small island where people who exhibit such tendencies can be exiled so that they are forced to live with their own kind. It would never become overcrowded, they would kill each other faster than we could transport them to it.

We have reached the point of terminal absurdity! Twenty six year old Americans are being referred to as children.

I am well aware that most people of that age act like children now but they should NOT be rewarded for it.

For them to expend Medicare and Medicaid to everyone they need to vote for it and they do not have the vote and they will never have the vote. Why had they not done the scenario that you presented when they had super majority in Congress two years ago and avoided all this Obamacare fiasco? Because many democrats would not even vote for it. We can sit here and come up all end of the world scenarios that we can imagine but at the end in the real world it does not work this way. Our side gives the liberals an “omnipotence” power but those fools are very weak and very incompetent. These fools could not even stop the Bush tax cuts extension, very fortunately, when they had super majority in Congress.

Obama is the most left wing socialist President in history of the country when it comes to “dogma” and “rhetoric” but he is too incompetent, too weak, and not smart enough to implement the majority of his destructive agenda and for this we are very fortunate. Obama pales in term of destructive socialist actions compared to FDR or even LBJ.

Although I can see the point you are trying to make, context is everything.

I'm 61 years old, but I'm still my mother's child.

I have three adult children.

Or maybe you won’t! You are wise not to celebrate now, there are possibilities that I don’t even want to mention online. There have been some strange court decisions recently.

They never give up because they crave power above all else. They are the sort who would rather be Captain on a sinking ship than do honest work.

Control freaks ship people off to camps or islands etc... you’ve fallen into their liberal trap. They want us to be like them - we’re not.

Bush proposed Myers as a SCOTUS justice, he was stopped; thank God.

Roberts and Alito were brought to Bush by conservatives and Bush was told by people in his ring that he needed to nominate these two, not Myers. to Bush’s credit he acquiesced.

But the Bush family is a family that prior to Reagan had embraced liberalism.

http://www.hoover.org/publications/hoover-digest/article/7991

The only conservative input to GW Bush came from his Texas ring who were staunch conservatives but his wife Laura was liberal to the core and he listened to her. So when it came time to act Bush tried to find a compromise between his wife and his Texas conservative friends.

No more Bushes, they can endorse Romney and all that that entails but their moment in the political sun is done. No more for them period.

His backers/handlers are not weak, nor incompetent. We can’t give him 4 more years to “finish” the job.

It hurts you that Republicans have put 2 conservatives on the supreme court and many other conservatives as federal judges. Look up bush’s Janice Rogers Brown. Your Obama, your clinton and your democrats have put only far left wing marxist, communists villains on the supreme courts and other courts.

It does not hurt me off.

You’re just milling a little forum propaganda aren’t you? Cruisin for a brusin yeah?

Nice try, won’t work. Won’t ever work.

I never said Republicans didn’t put conservatives on SCOTUS. It was you that said it was Bush that did it. While technically true, it wasn’t Bush’s first choice. Bush’s first choice was Harriet Myers.

And it was conservatives that brought Roberts and Alito to Bush, and it was Bush’s inner ring of Texas conservatives that put pressure on him to appoint Roberts and Alito.

I don’t know about Brown but I suspect it was Texas conservatives again that brought her, not Bush. Early on Bush was taking the advice of his Texas conservative inner ring because those are the folks that elevated him. With his approval ratings in the gutter and his unpopularity high and increasing, he started to distance himself from conservatives and he started listening to uber liberal Laura Bush.

So once again I invite people to read first hand what the Bush family is about from a member of Reagan’s inner ring.

This was fairly well known at the time.

Funny....what I did NOT know back then, was how much of a raving left-liberal Laura Bush was. Murphy’s Law..”Never sleep with someone crazier than yourself”

I think these breathless pronouncements are raining upon us like leaves in autumn to get our hopes up, encourage complacency etc.

So stay mentally tough because dashed hopes can be devastating and who would want us devastated and giving up I wonder. Stay tough, continue praying and if I’m wrong so what - but if I’m right, our backlash will be all the stronger and effective.
