Newt: No deal with Romney to end campaign (Newt met with Mitt!)
WashTimes ^ | 3-28-12 | Hallow

Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich recently met in secret with GOP rival Mitt Romney at the former Massachusetts governor’s hotel in New Orleans, according to a Gingrich admirer close to the former Georgia congressman’s campaign.

Mr. Gingrich did not deny the meeting in his response to questions from The Washington Times, but did deny he had cut any deal to end his struggling presidential bid.

The two Republican rivals met at 7 a.m. Saturday, the morning of the Louisiana primary that would turn out to be another in a series of dismal defeats for Mr. Gingrich, leaving the man who led the party’s congressional renaissance in the 1980s and 1990s in third place, well behind Mr. Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

“We are downsizing the campaign, not suspending it,” he said Tuesday. “I am in Maryland, North Carolina and Delaware next week,” he said. “We have events already scheduled in Pennsylvania, Texas, New York, Missouri.”

He explicitly said there was no understanding that Mr. Romney’s big donors would help retire the Georgian’s campaign debts of more than $1 million or that Mr. Romney had offered him a position in the next GOP administration in exchange for dropping out.

“There is no agreement of any kind and I plan to go all the way to Tampa,” Mr. Gingrich said, referring to the August....

Why would Mittens want Newt to drop out since the meme pushed by Fishy and crew say Newt is helping Romney by staying in the race?

Well, we see that Myth doesn’t agree.

This Romney etchasketch BS is spin to attempt to discredit Gingrich.

This is what is really happening. Adelson has been B-slapping Romney via his chief counsel for a while...

RN, with just 2 questions from Juan Williams and King, Newt went from 15 points down in SC, to a 13 point victory. That’s just fact.

We’ve got 5 months to the convention-— it can happen again.

If the next turnaround, takes a miracle— so much the better. -;

Gingrich will have NO PROBLEM retiring his debt. Adelson can wipe it away with pocket change. What a joke.

Fred, I posted that thread about an hour ago— but agree with you completely. The fight’s not over, til Newt says it is.

Victory or death!

IIRC, the limit for individuals is $2,500 or some such. Mr. Adelson’s contributions to the SuperPAC are different.

Interesting. Evidently Newt “secretly” met with Mitt in Mitt’s hotel room, at Mitt’s invitation.

What they may have said, I don’t know. But why on earth would Mitt want Newt to drop out? Unless Newt comes roaring back again, which he shows no signs of doing, and evidently doesn’t expect to do, since he’s cut his campaign staff, Mitt is better off with Newt staying in the race than if he drops out. Because it helps Mitt split the conservative votes and nail down more votes at the convention.

Newt tends to draw the more libertarian conservatives, who don’t like to hear talk about morality; but if he dropped out, they would still be more likely to vote for Santorum than Rino Romney.

This has been in the works for months. Newt has been for Romney for a long time now. He is even going to support him if Romney is the nominee. Newt is crazy to support this turd. I won’t vote for Romney at all. Rick or Newt is it for me.

Newt is long time CFR. If they feel he’s worthwhile, he’s in. Nothing we do makes a sh!t.

Cicero, have no idea what they discussed. But clearly, Newt’s reaction appears to be- I’m going to Tampa. Thus, it would seem whatever was discussed, did not end in an accord.

He can beat obama and fix our nation.

He can beat Obama, of that I have no doubt. But "he" won't fix our nation. I like Newt and he is my first choice, but I am still leary of those left hand crazy ivan's he can take every once in a great while. "He" just needs to get Government out of "our" way; we'll do the rest of the heavy lifting on our own.

In other words, I want a President that is going to take up the Republic's business and start breaking down the goliath of a federal government we have today. No more "new" stuff. Tell me about what will be gotten rid of for a change.

Where’s the “oh noes” guy?

:D

I really like Gingrich. Seems still possible, with Palin’s help, Gingrich could shake this up.

Wish it would shake.

Still waiting. And waiting...
