Everybody was a Tea Party guy when they thought it got them votes. As soon as they hit DC, though, they either reveal their true colors (ala Scott Brown) or “modify” their positions, ala Rubio.
Also, Rubio was brought up as a Mormon, although I believe he now goes to some kind of non-denominational church, so this probably factored into it too.
He really sabotaged Gingrich with Hispanics here and has always clearly favored Romney, so I’m not surprised.
I hate to inject facts into an otherwise irrelevant debate, but ... here goes:
Rubio’s parents are Catholic. The family attended a Mormon church in Las Vegas for three years when they lived there in the 1980s. Rubio was confirmed and married in the Catholic Church. Rubio regularly attends both Catholic Mass and services in a nondenominational church affiliated with the Southern Baptist convention.
