He was going to call back the police, he was to meet them. I’m sure it was on speed dial. Who said he was rushing towards him?

If he even saw him approaching. It sounds like he didn't see him until he was right next to him.

Kid wasn't rushing at him, they were standing talking when TM hit Zimmerman in the face and then jumped on him. It has all been well documented.
