Any police investigation of something of this magnitude will contain many photos taken from the incident scene before evidence is taken away, including photos of the body, blood stains, injuries, shell case placement, and many other bits of information that will be useful later. If he did receive injuries, and the police report did say he had some trauma, then I expect those photos will be released. When that happens, these idiots like Ed Schultz who are refuting the broken nose story because of this surveillance video will once again have egg on their face.

From my understanding the shell casing was still in the chamber and may have been stopped from ejecting because of the scuffle over the gun.

Can anyone please explain to me while surveillance video is always such poor quality?

I can buy a nearly free video camera with HD quality video, I don't see what the problem is.
