CBS News) Police surveillance video that appears to conflict with a Florida neighborhood watch volunteer's account of a confrontation with the teenager he eventually gunned down, Trayvon Martin, was called "the icing on the cake" by the Martin family's attorney on "CBS This Morning" Thursday.
Attorney Ben Crump told Erica Hill and Charlie Rose that the video refutes George Zimmerman's claims of shooting Martin in self-defense. The video, obtained by ABC News, shows Zimmerman, without any obvious injuries, being led into police headquarters in Sanford, Fla., after the shooting. Zimmerman's father and lawyer have said Martin attacked Zimmerman in his gated community, breaking his nose with a punch to the face and slamming the back of his head against the sidewalk.
"Thank God for surveillance video," said Crump, "because obviously there was a conspiracy to cover up the truth and sweep Trayvon Martin's death under the rug, and as (Martin's mother) Sybrina Fulton said yesterday upon seeing this video, 'This is the icing on the cake.'"

Has it been confirmed that Trayvon’s body lay in the morgue three days unclaimed? If so, have the parents, the attys, or FR’s Trayvon-Truth-Squad addressed this issue? It seems rather seminal to the nature of the kid and his family. Iow, either he made a habit of disappearing w’out calling in to say where he was, or else his parents are purely reprehensible for not taking aggressive action in trying to locate him.

I note that the 'video' capture seems 'intentionally' blurry.
Not saying that a 'loyal' party member would use photoshop to 'enhance' or 'degrade' a photo but.... well, yes I am saying it.

Even so, looks like a cut on the back of his head, and his head seems mis-shapen , as if he has a large contusion to one side.

Fidel Castro meets with 3 visiting US lawmakers

HAVANA – Signaling its willingness to discuss improved relations with the Obama administration, Cuba on Tuesday granted three visiting members of the Congressional Black Caucus the first meeting with Fidel Castro by American officials since he fell ill in 2006.

"Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., current head of the 42-member caucus, said at a news conference in Washington after the group's return that lawmakers met for nearly two hours with Fidel Castro and found him 'very healthy, very energetic, very clear thinking.'
Rep. Laura Richardson, D-Calif., who also met Fidel with Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., said Castro 'looked directly into our eyes' and asked how Cuba could help Obama in his efforts to change the course of U.S. foreign policy . Richardson said she had the impression that 82-year-old Fidel wants to see changes in U.S.-Cuba relations in his lifetime.

It would also make it seem really weird that the girlfriend hadn’t followed up on anything if she really was talking to him on the phone when the fight started. Surely the police would have taken and examined Trayvon’s cell phone...
Thank you maggie and Cbold for the info. I haven’t followed this case very closely. It sounds like the original report I read [about the unclaimed body] was just more misinformation. Seems like it takes a lot of time to keep up w what is true and not true in this case.

Despite the recent exploration as to the possibility, there seems to be no evidence.
Facts are facts, and if we choose to believe otherwise, then we are no better than them.
Of course, I haven't seen anyone considering the possibility that Mr. Martin hid the drugs (during the period where Mr. Zimmerman 'lost sight' of him,) just before Martin came back to teach that 'white hispanic' a lesson for 'dissing him'.
Lack of evidence (or lack of search) discounts that possibility as well.
The FACTS we have are that Mr. Martin had a cell phone and could have dialed 911, or he could have continued home (he was less than a football field away and had 'lost' Zimmerman).
Instead he chose to solve his 'problem' by beating another man senseless.
I say he made the wrong , and an illegal, choice.

That is a good point which hadn’t occurred to me. I wonder if we will ever get all the facts of this case? There are still many unanswered questions. The atty’s comment about ‘icing on the cake’ still chills me, though. What a way to talk about the aftermath of a son’s death.
