Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney confirmed reports Thursday that he and Newt Gingrich met secretly in New Orleans the day before the Louisiana primary.

But Romney played down the importance of the meeting between the himself and Gingrich, who earlier this week scaled back his campaign and laid off staffers.

And most all the internals, exit polls etc, say that if Newt drops out stays in, Romney wins much quicker by larger margins.

There. Fixed it.

Your concern is really unnecessary. Newt's campaign is over a Million in debt, and he will pull most of his ads in states he thought he could win in. He will soon drop out.

Most of his votes have already left for Romney, with the minority going to Santorum. Looking at the numbers in Wisconsin, Santo had an 8 point lead 2 weeks ago, but is now down 12 points to Romney, while Newt was at 18% and is now down to 5%. Since Romney gained almost a 20 point deficit in that time, it is rather elementary.

In regards to “political sense”, this entire primary is off the chart in the direction of radical insane stupidity. So even trying to relate to it in that sense is a complete waste of time.

Both Newt supporters and Santorum supporters have switched to Romney. The polls lend credibility to that theory.

This thing will be over by the end of April.

Do you have a link for that?

Or is it speculation on your part?

Prove it, show us some facts that back your rhetoric.

I just did in my previous post.

You gave facts? Didn’t see none. You gave your interpretation.

Since the polls have shifted in the direction that I outlined, then there must be something to it; That indeed, certain facts have occurred that support my observations.

Or, you can still insist that it is all just an illusion or an evil conspiracy meant to enslave us and destroy all that is good and righteous. Either way, I have already precluded how you will respond.

Actually, your comments show a “Jim Jones” mentality, when it comes to your support of Newt.
Romney trashed Newt and now they have this secret meeting.
Many of us here believe Newt is helping Romney by staying in the race.
This secret meeting only confirms many of our beliefs about Gingrich.
And his ultimate motive.

WOW!!! And another point of interest: Aliens from outer space have secretly landed and assimilated into the American society. We're all being programmed with chips, inserted into us one at a time, by laser beams, to cause us to act stupid and cococt conspiracy theories. I see you've been lasered.

An Open Post to FReeper bray:

I not hate Rick Santorum; and I certainly would not hate him for being a Christian. I’m a born-again Christian myself. I’m just disappointed that he has, apparently, never read the words of Jesus when he instructed us that as we go out into the world to be “wise as serpents and harmless as doves”. Rick certainly has not acted very wisely when he speaks “off the cuff” most of the time. He is doing Christianity a great disservice by convincing the scoffer that all Christians are naive, and kinda dumb.

Now, if you would not make statements, like you made in your Post #15 to me, people would not know just how ignorant you really are.

I’m not concerned in the least. It’s over for conservatives.

I agree with everything you said.

“Romney and Santorum have been de facto partners for months against the more conservative Gingrich. This is very similar to the McCain-Huckabee alliance in 2008 against the more conservative Fred Thompson.”

When I read this, I had to check to see if I wrote it. Well said. There is definitely a pattern and it is working.

Can’t really argue with that.

I’ll expand on the comparison.

Duncan Hunter 2008, = Sarah Palin 2012.

“I will NOT vote for Romney in the General.”

I won’t vote for watching Dems whistle past the debt graveyard with counter productive high tax policies and more fiscal stimulus, looking for a way to pin the inevitable Greek-style financial crisis on Republicans instead of preventing it. All they care about is power and would rather be kings of chaos than not have it.

We may not have won this battle for the nomination, but gave them a good run for their money and we haven’t been silenced. There will be plenty of opportunities to get the upper hand in the future with congressional elections and on various issues. Romney is a difficult pill to swallow but it beats staying on the path to national destitution and accompanied social disaster like our Greek friends now have. The GOP must win this one because we do not have much time to fix the problem and avoid the certain government debt crisis that will make the last three years look like some of our better days.

You can stay home if you want, but you really should realize what it means.
