Freindly Fire: Why Romney will lose to Obama
The Delaware County Daily Times ^ | March 16, 2012 | Chris Freind

Being in the media, I have no friends, as it should be. If I did, however, 3 of 10 Republicans would surely take offense to this column, since it points out what is increasingly obvious to everyone but Mitt Romney’s 30 percent base of support: Mitt won’t beat Barack Obama.

Should Romney become the GOP nominee - likely, but not certain - he will have a difficult time unseating the President. Can he win? Given the stagnant economy, high unemployment, and skyrocketing gas prices, yes. But will he? No.

Since many Republicans are calling this election the most important in history, it’s worth a look at why Romney will fall short:

1) He cannot relate. Nominating Romney would be par for the course for a GOP that likes to elevate stiff, out-of-touch pols who can’t relate to most Americans. John McCain, Bob Dole, and George Bush I (after he acted like he had better things to do than campaign for reelection) are prime examples.

Of course, it is rare for an incumbent president to lose, which occurred only four times in the 20th century. But in those instances, sitting presidents lost to charismatic leaders articulating bold visions. Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton achieved success over Jimmy Carter and George H. W. Bush, because, more than anything, they were extremely effective communicators, speaking from the heart rather than a script. There was a widespread perception among Americans that these candidates were talking directly to them - that they were leaders who innately understood what the problems were, and how to solve them.

On a scale of one to 10, Romney’s ability in this regard is zero. Not only is he unable to relate, but when he tries, things gets worse...

I encourage all to write to their congressman, state and national GOP chairs and tell them that you will not vote for Mitt Romney under any circumstances.

Do it even if you intend to hold your nose and vote for the steaming pile of crap. There’s no reason the GOP shouldn’t be made to fear their choice.

I dunno. FR can be a bit of an echo chamber at times. A lot of folks that I talk with, work with, are friends with, that lean right have an ABO mantra: Anybody but Obama.

If Romney becomes the GOP nominee, the republican party will have 1 less registered voter.

Why Romney will lose to Obama

1) Election fraud, 2) Romney is Obama-lite, 3) demoralization of conservative base

Romney as the nominee means Zero gets a 2nd term, and as His Demonic Lowness put it, "flexibility."

Can any FReepers ever recall anyone saying the words, “I want Mitt Romney to be my President”? I sure as hell have never heard anyone utter those words.

Romney has NO base, NO ability to connect with the average voter, NO core belief system, and NO specific economic plan.

Yet... somehow, he’s deemed the “most electable.”

My GOD, how it’s going to be ugly on 6 Nov...

According to Real Cleat Politics polling, Santorum polls best against Obama.

Romney comes in second.

Newt third.

I will absolutely vote for Romney. Obama is a hard leftist—a communist. Romney is nowhere near that.

Mitt will lose because he has no vision for the country. His only vision is mitt being president. Also, as smart and wealthy as he may be, I have never seen any candidate with worse political instincts. Leave it to the GOP to find a way to blow this election.

But Romney’s got what voters crave. He’s got electability.

nah, you will just be blamed for Obama winning. In the end, Palin will also support the orange juice can, just like Levin said he would.

Just like John McCain only less. LOL

Better concentrate on holding the house and taking the senate with some good conservatives.

Well, the article DID say that there's a 30% core who will.

Anyone expressing such sentiments on this forum would be quickly zotted. And they have. To be certain, there are Romney supporters posting on this forum. They just keep their mouths shut about it. This, of course, leads to a "how can Romney be doing so well when everyone here hates him?" sense of befuddlement.

Did you intentionally lie like that? Or are you simply unable to access current polling data? Here are the FACTS and you are wrong.
