Kids are over rated, especially other people’s kids. Let the little buggers go a bit hungry or wait a bit while Pop has a bit of recreation. It is good to remind them they should be seen and not heard most of the time. Busy body social workers and nosy know it alls should mind their own kids, not someone else’s. I grew up when kid’s chemistry sets had all the ingredients to make black gun power and still have all ten fingers.

I live down the street from this store. It gets hot here. This isn’t Yankeeville. You may as well watch the parents beating them with a baseball bat and say, “Oh well, it was just once.”
EVERYONE here knows you NEVER leave your kids in the car alone. It’s against the law and the consequences of doing it are clear and publicly known. I have 4 kids, not 2, and if I can’t bring them in, I don’t go in. These parents are lucky their kids are alive. If they want them back, I hope the state requires more than an “oops, my bad.”
If I had walked up on the vehicle with kids in the car I would have called the cops and stayed to make sure the kids were okay. I don’t care if the couple is married, goes to church on Sunday and reliably votes Republican. Down here, that’s physical abuse and child endangerment and serious business.
Yep they would that is how government works. In the 1950’s my mother left us in the car all the time. It depends on the age of the kids and how hot is it.

Even on a 70 degree day, the inside temperature of a car can exceed 120 degrees even with windows partially open.

What's the danger?
In addition to the risk of being abducted if they are left alone in a car, on a typical summer day, the temperature inside a car (even with the windows rolled down a little) can quickly rise above 120 to 140 degrees. Even on a relatively mild day, the temperature inside a car can get above 100 degrees. At those temperatures, kids are at great risk for heat stroke, which can lead to a high fever, dehydration, seizures, stroke and death.

Did they have to roll the windows up and lock the doors when they left you?
The children were probably better off in a locked car than loose in the store.
