“Think about that. Ronald Reagan, who as I recall was not accused of being a tax-and-spend socialist, understood repeatedly that when the deficit started to get out of control that for him to make a deal he would have to propose both spending cuts and tax increases,” Obama said. “He did it multiple times. He could not get through a Republican primary today.”

I remember well. He had Rat Speaker Tip O’Neill telling him that EVERY budget he submitted was dead-on-arrival in the House. Reagan raised taxes because he was forced to to deal with the Rats. And back then, most of the Rats actually wanted America to succeed and stay strong. I do not believe that is true today.

I totally disagree that Reagan would not survive a Republican primary today, although I admit the establishment Pubbies have been very successful at front-loading their loser RINOs since Reagan. But Reagan was the best communicator in my lifetime, and I think he had the ability to cut through the noise and make his case. Though now the MSM is also a far more malicious advocate for the left, Reagan had a way about him that put them in their place. Don’t forget his “I paid for this mic” moment. Awesome!!

That is correct. He would not want to be part of today’s GOP. Listen to his speeches in the 50’s and 60’s on socialized health care. He touts the Conservative line, not the RINO line.
