NBC News issued an apology Tuesday for the way it handled the broadcasting of the 911 conversation between George Zimmerman and a police dispatcher in the Trayvon Martin case.
Following reports that NBC aired audio of the call was edited in a way that implied Zimmerman was racist, the network launched an internal investigation.
"During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret. We will be taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize to our viewers," the network said in a statement cited

Okay, so NBC does it for gain then does an ‘oops’ when caught and apologizes? NBC, your apology is worthless.
If they make an example of that producer, then maybe, others will be more careful about not trying to pander to the mobs in the future.

For deliberately trying to start a race war, they should have their license to broadcast on the “people’s airwaves” pulled.
That was no accident. An accident is like a typo - results would have been garbled in some way.
I would HIGHLY recommend to Mr. Zimmerman that he task his lawyers with sueing NBC for trying to paint him as a racist and thereby making his defense more difficult.
I suspect he and his lawyers can earn quite a paycheck from NBC, enough to pay for his legal team with enough to live a prosperous life after his trial.
Write to your local station and FCC to pull their license.

Good point. To George and his family is who this 'apology' should be addressed to. They are the ones who are suffering from all these lies not the viewers!

Most likely the legal department / risk management raised the alarm. If violence is ginned up by the media in an obvious deliberate and manipulative way, they may be free to do so under the first amendment, but I would think they would be open to potential civil lawsuits by parties harmed. Any lawyers care to comment?
I hope this NBC “screw up” is actionable and Zimmerman’s attorney makes a fortune for his client at the expense of that irresponsible network! I think what they did is criminal!
NBC should not exist after this!
