My wife was a sub in an elementary school for a time and had a young female scholar who's written name was Morna'. When she called on "More-na" she was informed that that was the incorrect pronuciation and that it was "Moe-nay".

?? How do we go from Morna' to "Moe-nay". Forget for a moment maternal ignorance as it is always a starting point for these things. I get the "nay" part even though the accent mark is was confusing. It's the "Moe" from "Mor" that threw me. Then I realized that in her neighborhood, if one wanted to go out of the house to cross da skreet and maybe ax someone a question, one would have to go through the "doe" to do so. So if "door" is "doe" then "More" can be "Moe".

They you got it. Morena equals Moenay? hahahah Not like the Monet artist, wonder how they would pronouce that one.

Once on Password game show, the clue word was "doe", the black lady answer was "knob". It stopped the show as people could not control their laughter.

My question is WHY? In Britian you hear the blacks speak with the English accent, very clear and no slang black words. WHY? Why in America do the blacks insist on remaining ignorant? I just don't get it.

How hard is it to say "ASK" instead of AXED? So, if they ever expect us to respect them, they must learn something one day.
