Gingrich keeps campaigning - and keeps drawing an audience
CBS News ^ | April 7, 2012 | Lindsey Boerma

MILLSBORO, Del. - At 7 p.m. on Thursday, in the back shed of a firehouse, a presidential candidate who continually concedes he's unlikely to capture the Republican nomination held a rally - and 350 people showed up.

Earlier, Newt Gingrich spoke to more than 150 people in nearby Magnolia. And a day earlier, he greeted a sold-out auditorium that seats more than 400 at the UniversityofNorthCarolina-Wilmington.

The Republicans who come to Gingrich's campaign events, signs in hand and ready to offer standing ovations, are under no illusions that the former House speaker is going to overtake Mitt Romney to become to Republican nominee. In fact, many say they're ready to support Romney if he gets the nomination as expected.

For now, they just like hearing what Gingrich has to say.

"I love the guy," said Linda Creasy of Lewes, Del. "I'd love to see him in there. I think he's the smartest; I think he has the most to offer. He just doesn't have the most money."

....After the speech, Sussex County Republican Party spokesman Duke Brooks said he'll vote for Gingrich in the Apr. 24 Delaware primary. "There's no question about it,"...

Asked whether he holds out hope that his candidate will somehow become that nominee,.."Mathematically, it seems not." But..he finds "interesting" Gingrich's argument that however unlikely, a win in Delaware could reverberate in larger states such as North Carolina and Texas.

"Even if we still can't get the nomination, we roll into.. Tampa with a brokered convention in the offing," Brooks said. "And if we do that, in the long run I think that can only be good for the party because it's going to flesh out a lot of ideas, and a lot of people are going to pay attention to it."

That's Gingrich's message as well...

You seem extremely focused on Newt's past - his confessed, repented of, reconciled-with-his-family past, why is that? Because you think your boy is clean? Because you think you are. Your boy is corrupt and deceitful, and half the man Newt is, sanctimony and self-righteous piety notwithstanding. As for you, I don't know and don't care. try butting out of other people's business. IOW, get a life..

Newtron bomb end war on america

Newt Gingrich.. do you care about his past or America’s Future?

"He led us to victory before. Spectacular, historic victory. The strategy and content of his 1994 Contract with America propelled the Republicans in 1994 to win control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Even the Reagan Revolution in the 1980s failed to achieve that.

Moreover, once in power, Gingrich delivered on his promises, and maintained a solid conservative record. He carried out the Contract with America in full, holding a vote on every item as promised, most of which did pass. His record was unswervingly pro-life, pro-gun and Second Amendment, and anti-tax.**

Newt's the only one with the experience, and the courage to guide America through these troubling times.

And, he will hit the ground running on DAY ONE.*

VOTE NEWT.

He knows how to fix it.

*Presidents can begin turning things around very very quickly.

As part of his 21st Century Contract with America, Newt has pledged to issue a series of Executive Orders to create jobs and help undo the damage of the Obama administration on the first day of his administration.

Newt.org will periodically release user submitted executive orders which will be added to the list he will sign on the first day of his presidency.

Thanks. I tried to figure out this Primary situation and its clear that Newt was not supposed to really challenge.

I think that Sarah decided to not play because either she is asstute enough to see the secret handwriting on the wall or someone in the know told her the fix was in. Newt is basically and outsider to the GOP because he doesn’t tow their line. Neither do I!

“You seem extremely focused on Newt’s past - his confessed, repented of, reconciled-with-his-family past, why is that? Because you think your boy is clean? “

Newt may well have confessed, repented of his sinful past as he claims. None of that changes that he must suffer the consequences of those actions - as any biblical scholar will tell you.

It’s not just the real bimbos of his past, it’s the political bimbos that are most concerning. There is no God that he can seek forgiveness for political sins.

Newt will betray you. He has always betrayed everything that he claimed was important to him.

as for “my boy” I support Santorum by default - but I don’t try to elevate him, or any political figure to demi-god status as you Newtcakes do with your “boy”.

Newt gets to live with his prurient past as part of his forgiveness.

Beat up Santorum, please. He deserves it - as do all politicians that seek any office. I don’t care. But for you to sanctimoniously assert that Newt has been “forgiven” and that all discussion of his personal dalliances as well as his political dalliances are somehow verboten is not supported biblically, or politically.

Newts track record is one of compromise, not one of the resolute leader you claim he is.

Newt will betray you and conservatism to elevate himself politically. He always has, and probably always will - especially now in his likely swansong political performance.

Well, now that I’ve heard from the all-knowing, all-seeing you, I think I’ll just go ahead and follow my heart. Have fun in your cynical life. And by all means, let’s consult the biblical scholars when we are weighing a man’s character in the balance and hands of a merciful God. Oh, man, you are something, how did you get so bitter?

Boy, you Newtcakes sure are thin-skinned.

Is your “boy” really that helpless?

You can’t rule out him cozying right up to Romney, can you?

It’s his M.O.....

“Teeny Little Brain” why don’t you really demonstrate your intellectual capacity and throw in “Do Do Head”.

If you can’t grasp the differnce between proclaiming your intention to win an election, and spending trillions of dollars on a hair-brained scheme to ring the earth with giant space mirrors, all to combat a non-existant problem then maybe you, like Newt, suffer from microcerebral complex. And while, I may not be smart enough to grasp the brilliance of spending trillions on space mirrors, or trillions on Moon Base Newt (Just because Putin says he wants to bankrupt his country doing it),
I am smart enough to know that any candidate who co-endorses a Congressional candidate with ACORN, who has favored the individual mandate, who took influence money from Freddie or Fannie, and whose moral compass makes Clintion look like the Pope, isn’t someone I would ever vote for.

If you can’t understand that a country who borrows almost 50% of every dollar it spends, can’t afford to ring the earth with giant space mirrors to combat the fairy tale of man-made global warming, or that a nation on the verge of bankruptcy can’t afford the trillions it would take to make us feel “Exceptional” with a small moon base, then maybe you should buy a calculator.

If Newt had a plan to return us to solvency, instead of digging the hole deeper with his loony space plans, I would be more impressed. (I guess we may miss out on the next Tang).

A use of mirrors as a cheap / effective way to guide people out of a burning building is one thing. Ringing the planet with giant space mirrors to combat a problem that doesn’t exist at the cost of trillions and trillions of dollars, is quite another.

Newt has a very good an viable plan to return us to solvency.

As far as the moon base goes...he said it would be privately funded for the most part. And that is very obtainable since the private sector is trying to do just that. If what I read is true, China is developing a plan for a moon base.

Our illustrious leader (and I use that term loosely) shut down any further space exploration. So I guess you must agree with him? But I guess we can always hitch a ride with the Russians. Like it or don’t like it.. the new frontier will be in space. In military action as well as others.

This country is exceptional. It always has been. Don’t get your knickers in a knot because Newt suggests a way to stay competitive.

You really need to supply a link for your space mirrors obsession because it never occurred... it was seven or eight words when Newt was talking about ideas outside the box, like the Wright Brothers aeronautics, or the transcontinental railroad. But I doubt you’re worried about truth - or your credibility - since you have none, and since you’d obviously rather spread lies and distortions than carry on intelligent discourse. Sorry for implying you had a teeny little brain, actually it’s now quite apparent you have none at all...

Here’s a thought - you know so damn much about everything, why don’t you - and your repellant personality - run for office?

Facts, reality. Try them, you’ll like ‘em. Or maybe not.

Get a clue, and enjoy your judgment seat... for with the same judgment...

That’s all for now. I only spend so much time trying to have intelligent conversations with Santorum supporters, or those of the spiritual judgmental ilk. Too stupid, too stubborn, too blind. I hope you understand.

"What is the source of the space mirror reference? The idea of using space mirrors to affect lighting and climate on Earth is mentioned in a chapter of a book called "Window of Opportunity" that Gingrich co-wrote with his second wife Marianne and science fiction writer David Drake in the mid-1980s. The idea is not one of Gingrich's but was brought up at a conference sponsored by NASA that took place at Woods Hole, Mass., in 1979. Gingrich notes the idea with approval, but has not mentioned it since the publication of the book."

DO you?

LISTEN to Newt.

If there is money to be made, the private sector doesn’t need Newt to tell them to spend money. As far as China and Russia goes, “If your friends were jumping off a bridge, would you jump too.” It’s one thing to cut the entire program, it’s another to add several trillion to the budget to establish a permanant lunar colony, much less Space Mirrors.

And I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we don’t have any money. Almost 1/2 the federal budget is borrowed or printed money. Once we are out of debt, then Newt can pitch his looney, I mean lunar, ideas.

(And preparing for the military aspects of war in space, doesn’t require giant mirrors or permanant moon bases).

I have absolutely noticed that we are broke.

But from what I have heard..most of Newt’s ideas involve private sector funding. Maybe you should listen to what the man says. But I’m sure you have. ;) He is not instructing anyone, at all.

Following someone off a cliff? Nah. But if the future is what it seems to be..it won’t be following anyone off of a cliff. It will be a matter of protection. Much like it was in the 60’s. Or during Reagan’s Space Wars that everyone made fun of.

So tell me. You seem pretty intelligent. How would you prepare for an attack from space initiated by the Chinese?

Private sector floating space mirrors, pirvate sector moon colonies, geared toward national defense. Give me a break. If the private sector builds a moon colony, it will be because there is a market for some product that can’t be produced cheaper here on earth.

Space based missile defense, and anti-sattelite defenses don’t require the construction and logistical support of a lunar colony.

I think the questions you need to ask in evaluating Newt’s plan are: 1. Exactly how would Newt procure “Private sector funding” for either of these ideas. And apart from the nebulous idea of spin off technology such as Tang and space blankets, exactly what is national security purpose would be served by building, maintaining and supplying a colony on the moon, and how would a lunar colony serve that purpose. Because if we are going add a mountain of debt to our already crushing debt, we should be able to state specifically what goal would be achieved.

If there is one person running for President crazier Newt Gingrich, it is Ron Paul.

You, like most Gingrich supporters, seem to think the only motivation for criticising Newt is to help some other candidate. You can’t seem to grasp the idea that opposition to the man who cuddled with Nancy Pelosi, endorsed an ultra-left winger in NY-23 and who peddled influence to Freddie Mae, is motivated by opposition to Newt’s ideas, and actions and nothing more.

Ron Paul is certifiable, Santorum while less flawed than Newt in my mind is still very flawed, and Romney is no better than Obama. If it were Newt vs. Obama, I would vote for Newt just to slow down the express train to hell, but Newt is a big government guy whose ideas expand governemnt and if you took off the Newt blinders for a minute, you would see that.

I can’t imagine that you don’t see how much solving problems driven by the challenge of expanding beyond Earth have resulted (many by accident because we aren’t smart enough to know what we don’t know) in innovations we use daily for commerce, security, health, engineering, science, education, communication, every daily living and entertainment.

The cost spent (one half of one percent) is not an issue, it is the call not to spend it that should worry you. For this administration to hand off our national space program — walk away by subsidizing “commercial” “green” “entrepreneur” Elon Musk (given our tax money to “produce” no profitable elec car (Tesla), or solar panels (SolarCity) or rocket transport (SpaceX) — but lots of money put back into Obama’s campaign pocket and for hosting an inaugural bash) goes along with the rest of the stop America crowd.

.....Newts track record is one of compromise, not one of the resolute leader you claim he is.......

UNLIKE Rick and Mitt, Newt Gingrich didn't rest on his laurels complaining about the liberal political landscape of his state. Newt CHANGED the political landscape in GA (as he did in Washington), brought Democrats into the party, rallied people to get involved in politics -- all by pushing conservatism.

________________________________________

"ATLANTA — It wasn't so long ago that the Republican Party in Georgia was just an afterthought, and Democrats were in firm control of all the levers of state government. Back then, Newt Gingrich and other die-hard GOP stalwarts ventured across the state with the far-fetched message that Republicans could reverse the tide.

Now with commanding majorities in the Statehouse and control of all statewide offices, Gingrich is hoping his vision for how the GOP could overcome decades of Democratic dominance in Georgia will pay dividends. He sorely needs a victory when his home state votes Tuesday, along with a big chunk of its 76 delegates, to prove his stumbling presidential bid has staying power.

Many Republican figures in Georgia still credit him with championing conservative policies, outlining a framework for what a GOP majority in the state could accomplish and broadcasting talking points to a generation of up-and-coming conservative leaders. He's also applauded for lobbying conservative Democrats, like then-Rep. Nathan Deal, to switch parties.

"Everyone else was trying to lose as slowly as possible, and to die with dignity at the Alamo. He was talking confidently that the Republican majority in Georgia, in the South and nationally was right around the corner," said Ralph Reed, a veteran Georgia GOP operative who founded the national Faith and Freedom Coalition. "On the one hand it was crazy, but on the other it was just the most exciting thing you've ever heard.".....................In Ga., Gingrich helped build conservative base

The only time Mitt thinks “outside the box” is when he puts the family dog outside in a box (strapped to the roof of his car for the family’s 12 hour ride to their summer vacation destination).

He is a man of small thoughts - not a visionary, a follower not a leader, and a whiner who does not inspire.

Mitt Romney being chosen by the GOP-E to lead the U.S. is insulting and dangerous.
