Iowa Republicans are taking aim at the state's top law school for denying a faculty position to a conservative law professor, who an assistant dean once said embraces politics the rest of the faculty "despises."

Teresa Wagner, who works as an associate director of writing at the University of Iowa College of Law, is suing former dean Carolyn Jones for employment discrimination, claiming she was not hired for a professor position because Jones and other law faculty disapproved of her conservative views and activism.

I think we can be excused for concluding that to Leftists, "diversity" means only variety of color, not variety of thought.

For what it's worth, there was another recent FR thread related to Teresa Wagner's story here.

I knew Teressa Wagner a little when I went to U of I she was a fighter for conservatisim. I also remember working on The Daily Iowan there and how tough it was being a conservative on the paper, that really made me want to go into a career that was less politically polarizing, I’m sorry to see that it didn’t work out for Teressa she is a good professor, and a friend of conservative students, she deserves better.

I worked at the D.I. as part of the Journalism program in 1970.
Believe me, there were no conservatives on the staff.

I would guess this has been going on for a long time in academia.

When I was in college, I was naive enough to believe that universities were places of intellectual freedom. Then I watched the Marxists take over the place. And I learned that the last thing these leftists want is intellectual freedom. They want to control how you think.

I have relatives and friends who have had administrative careers in state universities.

Believe me, you NEVER let on that you're a conservative if you work for these fascist entities.

Peeples' hairs would stand on end if they knew what goes on in these sacred red bastions of ideological intolerance......including cushy jobs, cronyism and waste of tax money beyond comprehension.

Who does investigative reporting on the huge business industry that is Big Education? Answer: no one.

Obama and libs/leftists keep the tax-funded grants and inflated salaries/perks rolling into the confines of the ivy walls in return for the undying gratitude and support of academia....which they have almost in toto.

Yeah I can totally believe that I was there in the late 2000s when “Obamamania”was in full swing. That job made me have a deep dislike for libs, I have never met a more prejudiced group and after looking at the salary for journalists I decided to go into marketing. Wow, I actually enjoy my job now, make more money, and don’t have to worry about putting on my DNC Approved knee pads for the Kenyan and the other swarmy liberal pieces of crap in this world.

Stop supporting these schools with tax money when they are run as seminaries for communists.

I just attended the National Business Education Association (NBEA) national convention in Boston. The keynote speech was about what a swell guy Ted Kennedy was. I walked out of that one.

One would think that business educators would be capitalists. It’s their job to teach capitalism. Sadly, most of them are socialists, sucking off the teat of government.

I worked in radio/TV until 1980 when my stepdad happened to ask what kind of money I was making as lead reporeter at the statehouse.

When I told him, he said, “Why hell, Eric, I had more expenses last year than you had income. Why don’t you quit your job and come to work for me ?”

I did.

This should be an interesting court case as a jury in Sioux City, IA recently award a $230,000 judgement against a Democrat candidate and the Iowa Democratic party for defaming a Republican candidate for State Senate in 2010.
