I’m know I’m being redundant, but the only contact I’ve had with the Sunday Shows is the comments on this thread.

For that matter, I get more real news every day out of FR than the little bit I pull off the ‘net with my morning coffee.

...just want to thank y’all for sparing me the aggravation. (Not to mention the abuse our one remaining TV monitor escapes.)

Happy Easter.

They just announced that Mike Wallace died. Had been ill for some time and was 93.

Brace yourself for the lionization of Wallace by the MSM who go overboard when it is one of their own. It wouldn’t surprise me if Obama attends the memorial service or at the very least Biden. The Dems always honor their own.

Fox, of course, will go overboard on Mike Wallace because of Chris.

Let me tell y’all the sum and gist of my prayers recently.

I do pray for my country, I do. I lift my hands to God and pray that my precious granddaughter, my one and only legacy to this planet, have the opportunities and freedom that I so enjoyed, that allowed me to get a college degree, paid for by my employer but with 13 years of night school investment.

The country that had me, a poor somewhat abused child with lackluster parents at best, buying my first house before age 21, a country that allowed me, through my own hard work and brain power, to get jobs whenever and wherever I wanted, naming my price, with never a fear of my economic future....I pray that God will allow my granddaughter those same opportunities.

It will require HER effort, of course, obviously I get that. But I pray that God will not allow this current political class to turn the young all into a mass of govermental dependent zero burgers who don’t bother to go it with their own talents, no, no, no....the gubmint shall pay for my college, I shall work for the gubmint for 200 days a year vacation and a health care system that will determine what medical treatment I get, indeed when I shall live or die.

Okay....a little wordy there.

But I’m discouraged of late as I see them winning.

I made this promise to my Lord.

IF America re-elects Obama, than this country says it approves of this course, that it wants this course, that our children shall be raised up in a government dominated culture that will control their destinies.

I tell my God that I will accept this, that I will then know I am in the minority, that I will step down and live the remainder of my days as happy as I can, that I will enjoy my granddaughter and do my best to tell her how it ONCE was but beyond that, I will be gracious and accept the will of the American people.

It’s all I can do and I suggest that the rest of you consider the same.

A lot of FReepers complaining of the same thing. I find myself watching less and less FNC programs for the reasons you mentioned.

If we do not like the direction FNC is going, we need to stop watching! Ratings are the only thing they understand.

I understand that Fox needs countering points of view

That's where FOXNEWS presents wrong as somehow being right, and it's not logical.

Last night at Easter Vigil our exit song, as just played and sang by the Morman Tabernacle Choir, was “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”.

We sing the recessional song, maybe a verse or two, then Todd, our Choir director ends the song as people in the congregation want to get out of there.

Last night we belted out that song with a drummer and a band and our fabulous choir, with the congregation singing along just as joyously. After two versus Todd leaned out from behind the organ consol and held up four fingers as indicator that we would be singing all four verses.

The choir sang, the band played, our professional percussionist pounded the kettle drums and the place rocked! AND NO ONE LEFT THEIR PEW EARLY!

We sang and my own alto voice reached heights I didn’t know I had. We sang all four verses, the flutes playing, the kettle drum reverberating, the guitars circulating, the smell of incense still in our noses.

After that glorious, glorious song the congregation gave us all a standing ovation, right there in the church.

It was magnificent.

W.Bush didn’t offer Conservative Economic Solutions is the same as Romney’s economic plan, being the Democrat’s Economic Policy results left despair, but there may be a lack of confidence because Romney(or Santorum as some may prefer) doesn’t understand Conservative Solutions such as Newt’s flat income tax. Remember it is W Bush that gave us the first “Stimulus bill” and those tax rebate checks, when he should have lowered tax rates.

IF America re-elects Obama, than this country says it approves of this course, that it wants this course, that our children shall be raised up in a government dominated culture that will control their destinies.

If it were only that benign. If Obama is reelected, your daughter will grow up in a nation with a declining standard of living that is Balkanized along racial, cultural, and linguistic lines. The Dems will be the permanent majority party and the Constitution will mean whatever they say it means. Obamacare will be transformed into a single payer system.

Demographically, by 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as defined by the USG and by 2039 half of the country will be minorities. And by 2050, one in five will be foreign born. This will have electoral and social consequences. Demography is destiny.

I tell my God that I will accept this, that I will then know I am in the minority, that I will step down and live the remainder of my days as happy as I can, that I will enjoy my granddaughter and do my best to tell her how it ONCE was but beyond that, I will be gracious and accept the will of the American people.

I will fight this transformation to my dying breath. I owe it to my patrimony and our Founders. I will not go gentle into that good night.

The economic freeze is coming earlier than expected because Romney is not offering a Conservative Economic Solutions in contrast to continuing the Democrat’s Liberal engrained Progressive Income Tax Policy.

Even the ‘new’ Republican Economic plan for 10% and 25% rates is disappointingly Progressive, they just don’t get it, no matter what the tax rate revenues collected are about 18% of the GDP, so why not low tax rates and more job opportunity? No, instead Republicans insist on offering Democrat lite.

Patrick Colquhoun, 1806

Poverty ... is a most necessary and indispensable ingredient in society, without which nations and communities could not exist in a state of civilisation. It is the lot of man – it is the source of wealth, since without poverty there would be no labour, and without labour there could be no riches, no refinement, no comfort, and no benefit to those who may be possessed of wealth.

I share many of your concerns about Reps just wanting to make the welfare state run more cheaply and efficiently and not roll it back. The problem is whether the American people and the culture of dependency that most embrace can accept the real austerity measures that will be necessary to get our economy back on track. Anyone who thinks that this can be done painlessly thru some changes in our tax code doesn't understand the magnitude and substance of the problem.

Unless entitlements are reformed significantly, the entire house of cards built on the welfare state will collapse. Does the political will exist to make the necessary changes or will it take a debt crisis to force the political class to act regardless of public opinion?

I will not go gentle into that good night.

Well I guess that makes you a better person than me I suppose.

Do we rule by majority rule or not I must ask? If the majority goes against you, no matter how fooled we think they are, beyond the legal and constitutional, what more is there to do? If not the legal and constitutional, what then? We should forcefully overturn the rule of the majority?

My questions are more rhetorical than anything, no need to answer. I'm in a pondering mood today.

Thanks for the huge and somewhat fawning bio from the NYT, although they did cover his attempted suicide and nervous breakdown. One thing caught my eye:

Mr. Wallace, who was outfitted with a pacemaker more than 20 years ago, had a long history of cardiac care and underwent triple bypass heart surgery in January 2008.

I wonder if under Obamacare, an 89 year old will be permitted to have such surgery. Many of the libs went nuts over Cheney's heart transplant.
