Rick Santorum offers a winning message

Culture Challenge of the Week: The Truth About Rick Santorum

The challenge for any presidential candidate is to get his message out. For Rick Santorum, that has been an extra-tough challenge.

As the conservative standard-bearer, Rick has faced more than his share of antagonism and message-distortion from the liberal press. His response? To stand his ground and proclaim a bold message that resonates in the hearts of all Americans who actually get to hear it.

Rick is the “real deal” - a man open about his beliefs, authentic in living those convictions and compassionate to the plight of American families. And while he unfailingly supports the pro-life, pro-marriage values platform, his most powerful winning appeal may reside in how those values intersect with his understanding of sound economics.

In the recent Louisiana primary, Rick won not only conservative voters, but also moderate voters. Significantly, he won those voters for whom the economy matters most.

How did he garner that support? By communicating to Louisiana voters his bold economic plan - a plan often overlooked by press members eager to paint Rick as concerned “only” with social issues. The truth is that his economic views are why he is best poised to beat President Obama, because he understands that economics are woven into every aspect of our lives.

How to Save Your Family: Support Rick’s Economic Freedom Agenda

The media is hiding the fact that Rick is a champion of economic freedom - and that he understands better than any other candidate the root cause of poverty in America and our ever growing nanny-state. Little-known is the fact that he has the experience learned in the school of hard knocks in Congress and the Senate to know how to push through his bold economic agenda for our future.

“..Mitt or Barack?”

BOTH are liberals.

When you run a liberal against as liberal, you will end up with a liberal.

I am not a “birther”...I simply understand that America is more of a philosophy than a geographical location. America represents individual liberty, Christianity, and hence limited government. America has been killed in this country...the best we can do is to restore it. We are not a free nation...there is hardly a decision you make that does not involve the government in some manner.

I KNOW W was one of the most conservative Presidents we have had. Yes, he believed that you and all have a right to their own property. Thus, he cut taxes...it was the Republican congress that made the cuts temporary so that they could use the issue as an election tool later. BTW, Romney wants to make the tax cuts permanent (pretty liberal eh?). W, tried to push for personal ownership as an ideal...folks...probably like you simply did not have a clue. While he went around the nation getting lambasted for trying to put our own retirement into our hands...the so called conservatives ignored it. I know you were out there in the streets carrying signs and showing support, but you were one of the few.

I was fortunate enough to attend one of the Presidential Galas and heard W speak...off the cuff. He spoke of the importance in the Middle East of bringing God’s desire for man to live free. That each and every soul had the right to be free...gee that is conservative as hell and more conservative than any President since Ronald Reagan declared the pact with the Soviet Union that gave them eastern Europe illegal for our then President to sign...and hence non-binding. Anyway, W also spoke of the real fight...that between evil and good. He understood the influence evil was having in our world and that we cannot fight evil with evil and hope to win. That hatred would result in defeat for us...in other words a true Christian leader.

His effort in No Child Left Behind were strategic and morally sound. Consider, if we truly put tough standards to the education system (which there was no way we were going to abandon it...true conservatives like you would have had a hissy fit!)that made them teach...how enriching that would be for our society. But, more importantly how it was immoral to continue with the racist inefficiency and intolerable sloth of our system. That was a conservative answer in a non-conservative nation. It was a step in the right direction. He also pushed vouchers...but, even though there were millions of people out there voicing their support for freedom of choice of schools...it didn’t work (yes, I am being facetious to make a larger point).

As usual his strategic mind saw the problem of illegal immigration more fully than most. There is no way...none, zip, nada that we will deport twenty million people. It would crash our economy, be heartless and morally wrong. His Christianity would not allow it, and it simply is not smart. He was just honest enough to let you know that. Many prefer to hear the lies from those who would deceive for powers sake.

You may be an old man Fledermaus, but you do not understand free markets or economics...you simply relate that which you THINK is conservative...I don’t see anywhere where you understand freedom.

Bush did not destroy the free market and never implied that he did. He stated that he needed to use a tactic that was not generally free market principled to save the free market. And, he was right in his assessment. The initial bailout was simply injecting cash in a true emergency situation...with no strings attached, which was actually free market principled...and it worked. I realize you do not understand what happened when there was a extremely serious, dangerous run on our financial institutions...but trust me when I say it was a real calamity that could have resulted in much much more damage than 9/11 and yes, I believe it was manipulated, not by W but some group that wanted to seriously harm the US.

It may interest you to know that I studied Economics in college, have made a good living using that knowledge in investments. We are not a free nation Fledermaus...we don’t have the luxury of picking and choosing those who would defeat the real enemy of America...the democrats. So, if you can get off your high horse of misplaced, misguided principles and join in the fight...it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise you are doing nothing...not one thing other than supporting the democrats. Duped into a strategy that guarantees their continued power.

His effort in No Child Left Behind were strategic and morally sound.

No RINO left behind equates to more big big government -the utopian ends you want do not legitimize the federal means THIS IS PROGRESSIVE. The REAL conservatives' 'goal' entails getting the federal government out of the business of eduction; getting rid of central planning, and returning education back to state and local control.

As usual his strategic mind saw the problem of illegal immigration more fully than most. There is no way...none, zip, nada that we will deport twenty million people.

More RINO talking points. The President is NOT a dictator and as such should uphold the law -period.

Your immigration dreams are conflated with your lack of understanding as to how much power the Executive really has. Obama is ignoring the law and YOU are ignoring the Constitution.

We have the Republican nominee...Mitt Romney...

P.S. 'We' still have that pesky convention to go through before 'your' RINO is possibly anointed like McCain was. Last I heard, the process is not over except in the minds of the progressive media and the minds of RINOs...

For what ever reason you appear to think others need to have lessons in what this election is about. I think they know that perfectly well.

I will be voting “for” a candidate because that is what we do at elections. Fully aware that it will not be for Romney and why. ..and this with a clear conscious before God and the citizens of our country....who understand this is America and what it’s about.

You are certainly “Free” to vote “for” Romney regardless of how you chooose to frame your decision as are all Americans. I will not be voting for a liberal.

The GOP will continue to put RINOS in the front because once again they see our supporting a RHINO means we approve. I’m done voting RHINOS....McCain was the last and I will not do so again. I will not give the GOP the green light to continue to do so.

So NO ...to Romney. A vote for Romney is a vote for Obama and we all knew this from the get go.

The only Republican in the past 120+ years who has been able to oust a Democrat President was Ronald Reagan, and he didn’t do it by being a Romney-style moderate. He did it with bold colors, not pale pastels.

No serious person really believes that Mitt Romney will do anything to attempt the kind of reforms that we need. If anything, he’ll slow things down.

The big Republican victories of recent years — 1980, 1994, and 2010 — were achieved by running as unabashed conservatives. Candidates like Ford, Dole, and McCain lose — and that’s the kind of Republican that Romney is. Don’t believe it? Look around him — personnel is policy.

Romney’s nomination ensures Obama’s re-election, and he’s bad for candidates down ballot too.

It appears your mind is made up. You are going to not vote for Romney. You have chosen, out of some principle, to help the democrats. I am truly sorry you are doing that. But, you will make your president Obama very proud. Although I would wager that he will scorn folks who helP him as you do. You see, tyrants have no pity for decency. They will simply know that their strategy to divIde Americans worked. Power is all they care about and your help to them will not truly be appreciated. They hate us, this is not an exaggeration, it is reality. If they had the power they would do truly horrible things to you and your family. Don’t delude yourself otherwise, they show their intent every time they make a new regulation to chip away at our freedom. They show their intent with the mob forces they incite and protect. There is no room in their nation for people like you and I, they only put up with us for now because they have to.

I fear, truly fear for the safety of my children should democrats remain in power. We no longer have two American party’s we have one American party, republican that while not perfect, does believe in American ideals as does Romney. The democrat party has truly been taken over by evil. Just like the nazi’s and communIsts were used last century. What that means is they will be about death and repression, literally. One would have to be pretty deluded to put Romney into that group. Unfurtunately, there are those who choose to ignore his conservative values and focus on what they disagree with about him. There are those who may not vote for him simply because he is Mormon. Democrats know this and their media surrogates will play on this to divide us, while playing on racial, gender, and economic hatred to incite their base. You watch, they will. Are concerned very little when some folks are killed by over zealous members of their group. Power is all they care about.

Congratulations on sitting down for your princiPles. Your children will suffer greatly, buy hey you can feel smug with yourself.

As far as the Presidential nominee --I did not leave the party; the party left me! You can be assured I am far from happy about.

I have learned in business and in life that before you can fix something you have to acknowledge it is broken, and if necessary stop the process, so it can be fixed. At times, when you can not stop something the best way to fix something is to let it break.

The unprincipled spineless compromising elite have broken my party. The progressives spineless compromising choice loving homosexual pandering RINOs need to be eradicated from the party.

I will NOT support RINOs propped up by a failed party. True conservatives will get my support and my vote while RINOs will get NOTHING. I will let them fail...

“You may be an old man Fledermaus, but you do not understand free markets or economics...you simply relate that which you THINK is conservative...I don’t see anywhere where you understand freedom.”

You don't know me from Adam. You are judging, pure and simple.

BTW, I have an undergraduate degree in Economics from the Univ of Ark. and was working on my masters when I started working at a major hotel.

I then continued in the luxury hotel business for 30 years managing huge properties. Don't dare lecture me on free markets and freedom.

You are inferring only because of my lackluster support for so-called conservatives. You can argue until the cows come home at how conservative W was. You lie that he didn't say “I had to destroy the free market to save it” comment. You may call that pragmatic, I call it arrogant. Just like his daddy.

W could give great speeches and do the opposite. I saw him at the Grand Old Opry give a great speech until he started on that illegal immigration crap. The crowd booed him.

And now here you are, ala Rick Perry, lecturing me on the “Christian” thing to do and how “we can't do this and can't do that”. You sound like a RINO.

We didn't import them, won't have to deport them. Just turn off the magnet and most will leave on their own. It's not my fault Mexico is a basket case. Under your RIDICULOUS view, we should start ferrying Chinese across the Pacific to “get a better life”. Wouldn't that be the Christian thing to do?

Infusing a dying industry (yes, the government helped kill it) with cash IS NOT a free market principle. Structured bankruptcy is. I'd have flunked you if you were in my economics class for that view.

So why don't you get off the fence and stop this middle of the road argument trying to actually say Bush 43, Bush 41 and Romney are conservatives. They use conservatives as a means to power and then run back to the left of center to “work across the isle” and shove large government down our throats. Bush called it “compassionate conservatism” while I saw it as big government light.

People like Bushes, Romney, even Newt and Santorum, see power under any label as a way to implement their “enlightened” visions over the rest of us. Romney has NO record and says NOTHING that shows he'll govern our way out of this mess. At best, he says he'll just slow it down.

As to freedom, you are arrogant to presume I don't understand it because I don't blindly, like you, follow GOP thinking to the letter. I'm a conservative, not a Republican.

Don't forget this: it was the GOP, along with W, that banned the 100 watt incandescent lightbulb. I now have NO FREEDOM to purchase one. But I'm sure you have a pragmatic explanation. Now who is on a high horse?

P.S. America DOES NOT represent Christianity. It represents freedom of religion. If my knee jerked like yours I'd call you a religious bigot but instead I'm sure you just misspoke.

So, you are a mid level management guy...someone that would have worked for someone like me...who owned the properties. Let’s get something straight between us...I want to win...that means that we do not have the luxury of denying a good man like Romney from the Presidency just because he does not agree with every issue you desire. I can guess that in reality most issues you and he will be in agreement. The real question is are you going to simply blather your way through this election and do nothing positive to defeat the democrats or, are you going to play into their hands and help defeat freedom? Those really are what we are talking about when all is said and done.

I cannot help but wonder what someone like you thinks of all the famous conservatives who are endorsing Romney and have for a while? Are they all wrong in their assessments also? Is it really the world against the few “true conservatives” here? I don’t think so, I think there is some real blindness going on here and it is from you guys who will cut off your own nose to spite your own face...

Mid-level management?

You can contiune your childish jibberish all you like, insulting me is beyond the pale.

You have yet to list these “famous conservatives” and you keep lecutiring me as if you were 18 years of age.

I’ve helped defeat more leftwing Dems than you can count.

It’s bend over and take it up the a$$ jerks like you that keep the RINO’s in power. The proof is how ridiculously you argue Romney. You must be Ann Coulter.

Now leave me alone you twit and go back to your Motel 6.

I think you take yourself too seriously...generally a character flaw of those who wanted to go farther in life than they did...envy is not becoming.

Let’s start with two pro life groups who endorse Mitt Romney:

The Susan B Anthony and The National Right To Life Pac...both endorse Mitt Romney. Strange they would endorse a “pro abortion” candidate as has been put forth here...someone may be mistaken about that one eh?

Then there are some Republican politicians who, last I checked were considered conservative...albeit, now to their surprise they will be labeled “rino” by some eh?

Marco Rubio (you know, that Rino from Florida)
Chris Christie (that Rino from New Jersey)
Paul Ryan (that Rino from Wisconsin)

Tim Pawlenty (the Rino from Minnesota)

Nikki Haley (the Rino from South Carolina)

Terry Branstad (the Rino from Iowa)

Oh, let’s not forget the ACU...that’s American Conservative Union...

And then there is that Rino judge Robert Bork

And that courageous Rino Ann Coulter

Morton Blackwell
George Landrith
David McIntosh co-founder of that Rino group The Federalist Society

R Glen Hubbard
Georgette Mosbacher
Ed Gillespie
Paul Weyrich Founding President of that Rino org The Heritage Foundation
Christine O Donnell
Dick Morris
Larry Kudlow
Jay Severin

And the list goes on and on and will continue to grow...but you and a handful of others know the “truth” you know that it is all a sham, that Romney is really a liberal...good things you guys will be around when the democrats are left in power...I look forward to seeing you in the streets in the civil war...good luck!
