Never have tried freeze dried or dehydrated foods. I was wondering about the taste and the cost of packets that could be used for hunting and fishing trips.

My hens laying tends to fall off in the winter as well, even though North Ga. winters are more mild than most areas. I did have golden comets but after switching my chickens three years ago to leghorns the fall off wasn’t that bad.

Order samples. Feed them to your family for an entire meal.

See how it goes.

Menu fatigue is a science. It's a real thing. I've been to a conference on it.

And it's ugly. In extremis, people die from not eating, going crazy, or stealing. All over food.

There are some that are great with it every day forever. But there aren't many of those folks.

Put a light controlled by a timer in your coop. The chickens will think it’s summer and start laying. They don’t care about the cold, they need more “daylight”.
