OBAMA OR ROMNEY: THE REPUBLIC FAILS EITHER WAY
WorldNetDaily ^ | 03/29/2012 at 7:59 PM | Ambassador Dr. Alan Keyes

Posted on 04/10/2012 11:56:22 PM PDT by TBP

As I anticipated, “the elitist machinations of the sham party system are predictably moving America toward another false choice between an avowed socialist Democrat and a prevaricating socialist Republican.”

The “lesser evil” approach guarantees the triumph of wrong. So in choosing between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama we are like the cornered target of the hit man who says, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.” The fatal outcome is inevitable in either case. Obama’s way takes us to domineering socialism along a path that moves more openly and harshly against right, conscience and property. Romney’s way takes us to domineering socialism along a path that reserves the harsher methods, preferring to use deception and prevarication so that we go more gently into the night.

The Obama way challenges the courage of Americans, and if that courage is lacking, it will succeed more quickly. But if courage is not lacking, Obama’s way entails much greater risk of resistance and failure in the short term. The Romney way is slower, but more surely and easily achieves the goal.

Agreed. Let’s stop all the hand-wringing and make sure we elect the most conservative Congress we can.

Please, don’t forget state and local elections. Conservative Governors and AGs have lead the fight against Obamacare. We still have a Constitution and Obama can be defeated.

A conservative coalition of state leadership coupled with the most conservative Congress (especially the House) will make more of a difference than whining about Romney or equating him with Obama. It just makes us look goofy and provides fodder to the enemy.

There is no way I’m going to say anything bad about Jim on his own site. That would be rude! To his credit he was fighting for a better choice than Romney from day one.

Keyes makes the “lesser of evils is still evil” argument, and he does so from the basis of an appeal to God’s standard of perfection....or the striving thereto.

It’s a good argument.

Mine is more direct. Romney is a lying, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, big government liberal progressive.

Those are among his deficiencies, and they are enough to make him unacceptable.

I’d vote Palin / West 3rd party in a heartbeat. Its a no brainer.

I will not vote for Romney. After 2008, 2010, nothing will change my mind on that score.

If there is no Tea Party 3rd option, it is my belief that many conservatives will vote Obama rather than Romney, just to go with the more rapid polarization of America, and the lets get it over with attitude.

...the Titanic is going down and nothing can be done now to change that outcome.

America is too important to MANKIND to give in to hopelessness. I love this country too much to see it die like this. I swore an oath to defend the Constitution once and I'm sticking to it!

We have a horrible choice. I firmly believe that if we vote for Romney, the US' decline is put firmly on track. We will inch towards a socialist, failed state.

However, that would happen only after 20 or so years. If Obam is re-elected, the US will be a third world country by 2020

Marcus Tullius Cicero:

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.

This knew Obama 2000 years before we did!

I wonder how many of these “I’m staying home rather than voting for Romney”

You mean like that Jim Robinson guy?

Exactly. Jim owns FR not the minds of every thinking FReeper that is going to be booted from or leave this place and vote for Mittens.

The outraged "conservatives" that make the claim that obama would be no worse that romney are insane with their own mitten hate and cannot be rational about the choices that either man would make.

We could go through it point by point but that won't change a closed mind.

Hopefully, the subset of hard core FReepers that have sworn their vote to a third party, are either in very red or very blue states and their sacred principles won't have any real impact on our lives.

Hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Seriously, what is it about the essence of the point Keyes is trying to make do you disagree with? And why?

There’s nothing original about Keyes proposition that countries and forms of government have a lifespan, and that the country changes to a more socialistic and thus top-down system faster under the more radical party, and shanges slower under the party of “moderates”.

“I wonder how many of these “I’m staying home rather than voting for Romney” types are in fact Obama supporters posting here specifically to discourage us.”

Your obama radar is working well.

We had a bunch of romneybots and obuma agent provocateurs trashing Perry week after week on FR. After Perry dropped out, they started attacking Newt until JR stepped in and zotted a bunch of them.

Yes you do and you still have the right to be as foolish and reckless as you choose, and you can call yourself patriotic, and I'll think of you as a spoiled brat that didn't get their turn at bat, so you took your ball and went home.

Jack wagon, nah, you are a Mook.

A spoiled little child that holds his breath until he turns blue and then throws up and screams for his mommy {all the while, waving the flag and feeling very righteous and patriotic, while looking down your long pointed nose at us useless pragmatists}.

I’m glad you quoted Alexander Hamilton because as far I’m concerned he had plenty of bad advice. He did this nation a great service getting himself shot. It not only put him out of power, forever, but kept a rotten scoundrel like Arron Burr from power on account of Burr killing him.

OK. So we know Romney sucks! I don’t think he be more loyal to Iran than America like Obama though. Iran gets nukes and MILLIONS might die.

Given his role in the rise of Barack Obama, with his feckless carpetbagger senate campaign, Alan Keyes is not in a position to talk on this matter.
