Some of that idea was kind of funny. The truth is that most of the area of Kalifornia is red but the majority of the voting population is condensed in the cities. San Francisco is liberal hell while I have a CCW issued in one or the northern inland counties. Here they are not hard to get. There is a huge agriculture business in cali, a lot of logging, and many large ranches.
Kalifronia is in the grip of liberal city socialist voters but they usually leave the rural areas alone. It is not hard to figure out that they really are not wanted or welcome out in the vast areas of the red counties. These rules for housing may work near the cities but the rest of us will just tell them where to put it.

Too bad the lefties have a solid grip on the state. There would be parts of Cali that I wouldnt mind living but it would have to be far from the crazy crowd.
Sounds like you did it right and stayed out of the cities.
