Back in the day....This jerk would have his a$$ whipped by some father , and have been run out of town sucking on the end of a 12 gauge...... If he didn't get the message from that, well that's why pin knives were invented.

Raise hands, gentlemen, if you (having been said jerk) would've worried more about that from your own parents, as well as the PYT in question, in line ahead of her dad?

*raising hand*

Back in the day Johnston would have been focused on passing his fertility around within the framework of the family's membership in the Apostolic Church of the First Born (which is manifest in Palmer in several ways).

He'd been like Bill Clinton's mom and dad ~ also members.

They ended up having five marriages each, and several children ~ but also apparently more than their fair share of dead ends, all things considered.

It's those "dead ends" that custom seeks to eliminate one way or the other. The same "ethnic group" in Scandinavia has a male to female birth ratio of 5 to 3, with some groups closer to 2 to 1.

The serial marriage system tends to work in small communities isolated from the greater world outside but due to modern transportation and communications, that isolation simply doesn't exist anymore.

It is quite possible none of the people involved in this situation are all that upset about it.
