See, I don’t see that. I don’t see anyone boasting about supporting him or even supporting him period. I think many think he is the lesser of two evils and that o bama has to go.

You're on the ball tonight! If it was up to me? Bachmann would lead the ticket. I was furious when McCain won the nomination in 08, the only thing that made it tolerable was Palin on the ticket, I literally cried I was that happy to vote for her. The only thing that will make me happy voting for Mitt and not having to hold my nose will be who he picks as VP, and I don't think he'll be that stupid to pick a liberal or moderate. I also hope that the Senate and House have a bunch of Tea Partiers voted in, that would be icing on the cake for me.

Yea, slam Windy for speaking a rough truth, but vote for a baby killer. Sound and evenhanded logic there sport.

Wah-Hoo! NEWT RISING!!!!!

Check this out....Newt takes the stage and the crowd drowns out Romeny’s speech with a standing ovation for Newt at the NRA!....and get a load of the write up!!!!!

EXerts:

“......If the Republican presidential nomination were decided by the volume and energy of applause from ‘thousands’ of NRA members gathered today in St. Louis, ..”NEWT GINGRICH might yet have a shot at greatness.”

The influential gun lobby today reserved their greatest enthusiasms NOT for their presumptive nominee Romney,... but for Newt Gingrich, ....a candidate who perseveres to the wonderment of many and the joy of some.”......

“The right to bear arms comes from ‘our creator’, NOT our government,”... Gingrich said.

“This is STILL a more open nomination process than anyone in the elite media believes,” Gingrich said.

Video of Newts speech here and rest of the article:

Go Newt Go!!!!!

If the ‘conservatives’, regardless of position/fame/influence choose to abandon everything they have told us repeatedly that they believe in to back a Pro abortion/pro gay/pro GW et all candidate, then it is they who will have taken themselves out of the conservative camp.

If you abandon the actual republican platform as written, then you are by definition, a RINO.

Now please explain any logical flaw in that statement.

The logical flaw is stating as a certainty that the Republican nominee will actually abandon the party platform. The only time I remember a candidate actually saying the platform didn't matter was Bob Dole in 96. Did you vote for him... or Perot?

His record is all we have to judge him on.

He is a liberal and I do not vote for liberals.

...

I think this thread is done too.

First, you have a bunch of questions posted to you unanswered, second, MR already abandoned the RPP with his GOV record. Place his actions side by side with the RPP and do the math.

Third, Did you read JR’s first post? Then why do you keep supporting Romney here? Do you respect JR’s edict or not? Yes or no.

Once you set aside your principles, it becomes easier and easier to do that in the future. That would sure work for the liberals, wouldn’t it? Also, after you have set aside your principles once, it becomes harder to defend conservatism.

I’d suggest that many here are quite used to setting aside principle already...thus making the Romney vote/support just ‘one more thing’.

Good post Joe.

Hopefully, somewhere along the line common sense will replace the outrage of not getting one's first choice.

It is thoroughly amazing to me how many members of such a well informed website can not see the forest for the trees.

To say that the upcoming election is important is a vast understatement.

In addition to looking back at the past 8-10 years and not realizing that our side--the voices of conservatism-- have not made huge advances in every way from Limbaugh on down is not to see reality.

Changing a long established political party from rinoesque to conservative is not a 4 year job. More like a 40 year job. It takes time. It's not always pretty and we don't always get our way. But, that does not mean its OK to quit trying!

For me giving up is not an option.I have kids. I care about their future if not my own. The thought of a bunch of commies totally destroying America for the next four years is so abhorrent to me I can't sit back and punt because I didn't get my way.

Let's hope others see the light as well.

I thought so in 2008. And all it got me was Obama.

You should learn more about elections. Who wins, why, and who actually elects either candidate from either party.Try the real world.Philosophy is great on a website. But, sooner or later you have to step away from the keyboard and go out into the real world.

Since no ABO poster in the last several hundred posts had the integrity to answer, perhaps you will. Please tell me, in detail, how it is that voting for a man who...

Actively supports abortion with his own money and through passed legislation advances conservatism and brings an end to that decidedly unconservative activity.

Voting for a man who Has been a vocal advocate of and passed laws supporting homosexual ‘rights’ over your own and laws like gay marriage advances conservatism and brings an end to that decidedly unconservative activity.

Voting for a man who invented and continues to promote Romneycare IE Obamacare advances conservatism and brings an end to that decidedly unconservative activity.

Voting for a man who strongly believes in mandates advances conservatism and brings an end to that decidedly unconservative activity.

Voting for a man who denied Reagan and his policies advances conservatism and brings an end to that decidedly unconservative activity.

Also, please explain in detail how a person claiming to hold conservative values can suspend those values to vote for this man and just put them back on like a pair of socks after that vote is done, then look at himself in the mirror and say, “Yup, I’m a staunch conservative” without that reflection laughing hysterically at such an obvious display of situational ethics...something anathema to conservatism.

In fact, all you ABO voters are welcome to take a shot.

“Who cares what anyone here will do? Conservatism is about individualism, not group think or following the herd over the cliff. I’m confident that all but the insignificant fringe will support the Republican nominee.”
_____________________________________________________

I agree! People are terrified of what will happen if Obama gets another four years. Sorry, but “rebellion” isn't sitting at home having a hissy fit and pity party because your guy didn't win.

I'm praying for a miracle that Newt can somehow pull out a win, but if Romney ends up winning, I’ll vote for him. I will not be responsible for the Marxist having another four years to complete his destruction of America.

Whatever Romney's faults are (and yes, I know they are many), he doesn't hate the country, and his end game is NOT to destroy it as founded.
