Body found in Salem was fetus, not infant, autopsy reveals

SALEM -- Remains found in a Salem yard have been identified as those of a fetus, not an infant as deputies initially thought, police said.

An autopsy revealed the body found in the 4700 block of Carolina Avenue NE Wednesday night was that of a 24 to 25-week-old fetus, the medical examiner's office said Friday.

After the story was reported Thursday, detectives received calls and tips that helped them find the mother, according to Don Thomson of the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

The mother told investigators she had suffered a miscarriage on the morning of April 11.

"At this time, this investigation is being categorized as a medical incident," Thomson said. "Consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the identity of the mother will not be released."

Results of the autopsy and the investigation will be sent to the district attorney's office for review.

It is for this reason that I have such reservations about voting for Romney. I am not convinced that he is truly pro-life and I am just not able, in good conscience, to vote for someone who is not.

My family, like many others, believes that by not voting for Romney I am in effect, voting for Obama.

The Church says when faced with two candidates who are not pro-life, it is morally acceptable to vote for the candidate who poses the least threat to the unborn.

But, here’s my problem. If I vote for Romney out of fear for what I may suffer due to another term for Obama, then I am sacrificing my principles for personal gain and comfort.

And then I ask myself....Am I not willing to suffer for the truth?

I do not wish suffering and the Lord’s chastisement upon this nation, but is it not the just consequences of the moral decay to which Christian Americans have been complicit by silence or consent?

And doesn’t the Lord give us the leaders we deserve?

What will it take for the American people to rise up against the mass slaughter of babies in the name economic and personal gain?

We are often asked if we would die for our faith. The question is real in these times as we make our choice in November.

Are we willing to suffer at the hands of Obama as a consequence of refusing to support Romney who seems to support all the things we, as Christians, know to be wrong?

Is someone trying to tell us that we're supposed to shift our language to call premature birth infants "fetuses" now?

Obfusticate the language, obfusticate thinking. I have two great grand fetuses running around (twins) born at 31 weeks, now a year and 3 months. Both are bright-eyed and healthy (Thank God!!).

The only questions here are of whether the baby survived birth and why EMS wasn't called.

I was getting ready to post the exact same words.....a distinction without a difference.

I am on my portable device right now or i would look up and post Rick Santorum’s Senate speech on partial birth abortion. He says what you said.

“I am not convinced that he is truly pro-life”

HE says he is now Pro-Life!
It is NOT your job to judge.

Yours is a lousy excuse for not supporting the only candidate not committed to the destruction of America.

Citing my post as support for your odd reasoning, further turns logic on it's head.
Pretending that “well, we kinda deserve to be destroyed, so I shouldn't get in the way....” is the most nonsensical reasoning imaginable.

****HE says he is now Pro-Life!

Yeah, and Obama says he’s a free market guy who doesn’t want to redistribute wealth and wants this country to be energy independent.

I have every right to make a judgement of Romney’s current stance against his prior words and actions.

I do not wish destruction on this country.

While I don’t believe that Romney has an active dislike of this country, I also don’t believe that he is much different than Obama in terms of policies and beliefs regarding social issues. Romney’s actions belie his words and I don’t trust him.

So, faced with this choice, do I stand my ground on my principles and refuse to cast my vote for someone who has actively promoted anti Biblical/Christian beliefs and let the chips fall where they may?

Or do I do as we have done for generations now and put economic interests ahead of our very soul? And yet, here we are.

It took me a long time to realize that Democrats/Liberals/Progressives have used economic interests to push their anti liberty and anti Christian agenda for decades.
For example, “good” Catholic women voting for Obama, knowing the evil of his stance on abortion, but sure that he, like all Democrats cares for the poor and oppressed. As if one cancelled out or made up for the other.

I see the same happening now with the Republicans. We are told to abandon our conservative and God loving principles in the interest of some economic advantage if we vote for Romney over Obama. We are told that the social issues, the “wedge issues” are secondary to the economic survival of this country.

Well, I for one believe, with all my heart, mind, body and soul that the savage killing of our unborn children has brought about the peril our country faces.

I recall Abraham who asked the Lord not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah if as few as ten righteous people could be found in their midst. We all know the end of that story.

What may happen to this country if I refuse to vote for Romney is not a result of my standing up for my Christian values. It is the result of too many of us not doing just that.
