(Reuters) - Singer Robin Gibb, a founding member of the disco-era hit machine the Bee Gees, is in a coma surrounded by members of his family in a London hospital, British media reported on Saturday.
A spokesman for the 62-year-old, who has been battling cancer and recently contracted pneumonia, was not immediately available to comment on the reports.
"Our prayers are with Robin," an unnamed family friend told the Sun newspaper, which first reported the news.
"He has kept so positive and always believed he could beat this. Sadly, it looks like he has developed pneumonia, which is very bad in his situation."

ALthough illegal drug use is not the only cause.
One of my favorites, too. This album illustrates two points other posters made. Fanny, Be Tender has some incredible harmonization. Edge of the Universe is one of those hidden gems which another poster mentioned.
There are some real interesting paradoxes with the BeeGees. They suffered from over-exposure yet had so many hidden gems which often become known only because they were recorded by other artists. I was watching a BeeGee documentary on YouTube which states at one point in the anti-BeeGee era, Barry and Robin Gibb had written the majority of the songs in the Top Ten one week. As noted in the narrative, the fans were not fond of the BeeGees as an act but they loved their music.
Prayers for Robin and Barry and the entire Gibb clan.
Oh my, my! He was scrumptious! Strange, though that the twins were not at all good-looking. Andy was cute, though.
Just damn rintense, we agree on that. Barry was a hottie. LOL
Personality wise. I adored Mo.
One word...HUNK. Boy, did I have a crush on him even though I was married with 3 kids. Saw them in concert, in Cleveland, in 1979 and it was heaven.
“I hated SNF, disco so bad I went back to my country music roots “
Disco in the 70’s was like a Black Plague epidemic in Medieval time.
Oh, that is super duper!
Any truth to the rumor that Barack Obama is going to use Jive Talkin’ as his re-election campaign’s theme song?

I had a cat for 19 1/2 years named Shenendora.
Straight out of Edge of the Universe.

OMG, I was there too!
We were on the floor of the Richfield Coliseum, I had to stand on a folding chair to see (I’m 5’3”) and paid 75.00 for that seat!!!!
I think my girlfriend and I cried through half of it.
My girlfriend saw their concert earlier in the year, in NYC ,and Barry threw her his towel. She called me in the wee hours of the morning and could barely speak.
I would have died. :)
I had an original red vinyl Odessa album. My sister has it now.
Politics aside, in her early years Barb had a stunning voice... I used to own that album on wax, so to speak.
I watched the latter Bee Gees vids linked here (not the One Night yet.) Uninmpressive. That’s not rock and roll, that’s Vegas showbiz. It’s an old problem, with latter day rock’n’rollers appearing on stage backed by a dozen (Rolling Stones, Bee Gees) or more (Elvis) hacks, with the result being no longer the Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones or Elvis, but some impersonators impersonating their younger selves. Even Joe Cocker and Ringo can do better. I don’t get the fans screaming for another tour of the Rolling Stones Review. Give me the five man combo with Bobby Keys and a a Ian Stewart playalike!
Watched the One Night Only video. Outstanding! The best concert film ever. Certainly better than Scorcese’s Shine A Light on Mick Jagger Closeups! The only weak point being the guest appearance by some unknown chick named Dion, unrelated to the great Dion Di Mucci, that’s for sure. Otherwise not a single flat note. These guys rocked, and it’s amazing the consistent quality of their repertoire. Barry’s falsetto got me to thinking about the evolution of male pop singing since the 1930s or so, and what does it mean. Frankly, I dunno.
Not HD, but pretty good a/v quality .. currently soundin' pretty crisp at ~80dB thru Sennheisers (that was last night ;-)
Bee Gees - One Night Only (full concert video)
(thanks Mod/s)
