Many retailers are trying to get Massachusetts to tax Internet sales.Good thing I less than a half hour from two huge malls in New Hampshire...no sales tax.And on my tax return,on the line where you're required to report (and pay sales tax) on all such purchases I put ZERO.

And I sleep like a baby after having done so.

Best Buy is dying because of the Internet, just as Circuit City,CompUSA,Tower Records, etc, etc did. They'll soon go the way of Blockbuster, for better or for worse.

I stopped shopping at Best Buy when the one in Dedham treated me horribly. I was in shock at how disrespectful the staff was - like they were getting paid to harass customers. Creepy. I really like Office Depot in Natick, they’re always great and impress me.

Also TVs are cheaper and with smaller margins. People are buying tablets and smartphones instead of computers. Most of BB's profit comes from financing and warranties. I don't know how that relates, but I'm throwing it out there. BB is making adjustments like opening smaller stores. We'll see how it works out.

I hope they don’t go - I can’t drive up to and walk into the internet when I need something TODAY - doesn’t happen often but it does happen.

My brother works at Best Buy and he refers to Best Buy as Amazon’s show room. He knows his future there is short ......

Best Buy is dying because of the Internet

That's true too. My last few tech purchases have been from Amazon. Used to go to BestBuy for everything.

The internet, their addiction to overpriced Monster cables, they’re deciding to go the same route Radio Shack did and bet the farm on being a Verizon reseller, that annoying magazine promotion they kept running for years constantly hassling you at the checkout, the Geeksquad charging a ton of money to poorly do basic tech support.

There’s a lot of reason BB is going down the drain.

Best Buy is dying because of the Internet,

Not the only reason and like Blockbuster a more convenient model could have saved them.
Personally, the reasons I buy online retailers is not because of taxes. Convenience does it for me. I buy for a good price and convenience.. not because I save sales tax or not.
