What do you think of Sony Vaio’s? Ive never owned one before so I figured I’d try something new.

I have heard good and bad about them through the years. My friend has a 17" HP laptop for a year...it has given him no problems. My family has bought from Dell refurbished and done OK. Dell warranties are good with at home (they come to you) service. You don't mail your computer to Sony which I think is the case with them. I could be wrong and maybe a place like BestBuy will repair it in their store

500gb hard drive or less might be OK for you. The only reason to have large hard drives is to copy DVDs onto them for later viewing or to copy home videos onto them. Though blue ray movies can take up 25gb space I am told
4gb memory is good enough for a secondary computer
6gb or 8gb memory better for a primary computer
I open up lots of Firefox and Chrome windows & tabs and find 8gb much better for that (I upgraded my desktop from 4gb to 8gb)
Intel Core i3-2350M Processor is good enough for the internet and "Office" applications and most other things
But get i5 if you like......
make sure you get the second generation of i3 or i5 (most new laptops will have it but doublecheck)

I wont be purchasing the laptop from Best Buy since I just checked the prices and nothing went down so I think I will just buy it from TigerDirect..they offer a warranty through squaretrade, two years, 159 bucks including accidental damage but I dont know anything about squaretrade, how reliable is their service? TigerDirect told me that if anything goes wrong with the laptop squaretrade will either send me a check to purchase a new laptop or just replace it with a brand new one(If its still being made) but I will contact them to get more info about their warranties

that is the laptop I am planning on buying, except I am getting it from TigerDirect for 619-20 dollar coupon, free shipping, no sales tax..what do you think?
Oh and I will be upgrading the memory too, will be purchasing a crucial 4gb memory card for 19 bucks so it will make the laptop 8gb instead of 4
