Two pro-life groups endorse Romney
The Washington Times ^ | April 12, 2012 | Seth McLaughlin

GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney got back-to-back endorsements from prominent pro-life groups Thursday, signaling that anti-abortion forces will overlook his previous pro-choice positions in their shared desire to defeat President Obama in the general election.

The Susan B. Anthony List threw its support behind Mr. Romney in a morning news release and National Right-to-Life, the nation’s oldest and largest pro-life organization, followed suit with a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington.

“Now is the time to unite behind Gov. Romney in order to defeat the most ideologically pro-abortion president in our nation’s history,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List. She added that her group plans to spend $10 million to $12 million in Senate and presidential battleground states “mobilizing pro-life voters to ensure victory.”

In making the announcement, Anthony List leaders said that Mr. Obama has proven to be an extremist on the abortion issue during his first term in office and highlighted how Mr. Romney has vowed to defund Planned Parenthood, appoint only constitutionalist judges to the federal bench and bar nongovernment organizations that perform or promote abortions from receiving federal funding.

“The difference between Gov. Romney and President Obama couldn’t be clearer,” said Jane Abraham, chairwoman of the group’s board of directors.

I actually think Willard will win the general. The People will have handed the reins of this oppressive, overgrown government and nascent police state to the culture of death statist who is smarter, more diligent and better organized. There will be consequences to the elevation of the clean living ‘lesser evil’ Diocletian over the debauched and fading Nero.

Yeah, one’s a Republican and the other’s a Democrat. Are we clear?

It just goes to show you that the leftists have left no stone unturned in there quest to infiltrate every thing conservative. There is no reason for these groups to continue to operate. They are now nothing more than a front for the left. There mission statement lies torn and shattered on the ground.

If so we may buy ourselves some more time, but if we are too stupid to recognize what needs to be done to pull the country back from the brink then more time won’t really make much difference anyway. It is our own stupidity and complacency that will kill this nation - either now or later.

Markomalley, Did you post this on a thread earlier today?

This is powerful stuff!

So, tell me, who do we vote for? Romney=Obama=a vote for crimes against humanity.

Mitt Romney created the contraceptive/abortifacient mandate and Obamacare, both of these men reject the Constitution on freedom of religion.

Is it a matter of voting for vice presidents instead of presidents? Don’t vice-presidents just go to state funerals?

Two quotes from Evangelium Vitae of Blessed Pope John Paul II:

(1) When a parliamentary or social majority decrees that it is legal, at least under certain conditions, to kill unborn human life, is it not really making a “tyrannical” decision with regard to the weakest and most defenceless of human beings? Everyone’s conscience rightly rejects those crimes against humanity of which our century has had such sad experience. [EV 70]

(2) In the case of an intrinsically unjust law, such as a law permitting abortion or euthanasia, it is therefore never licit to obey it, or to “take part in a propaganda campaign in favour of such a law, or vote for it”. [EV 73]

So, basically, it’s a crime against humanity to vote for Romney or Obama as that is a direct vote for total war on children in the womb by these totally cowardly, anti-American, abusers of power out to harm children. Is one really better than the other? Really? Tell me why…

Thanks for those citations.

I have always been inspired - and made very stubborn - by Pope John Paul II’s eloquent unmasking of the ‘culture of death’ and his defence of the helpless and innocent.

I just sent this to lifenews and studentsforlife :

Take me off your e-mail list immediately.

Mitt Romney not only believes in but has actually implemented coerced abortions - coercing Catholics to perform abortions against their will, their conscience, and their own religious freedom.

As long as there is a genuinely pro-life candidate in the race it is a gross betrayal of the pro-life community to support instead somebody who has used government power to coerce abortions.

I NEVER want to hear from you again. I will take the recommendations of every pro-life voters guide printed by the supposedly “pro-life” groups with a pillar of salt.

I will be voting Newt Gingrich in the primary and if it ever - God forbid! - comes down to Romney v Obama I will plug my nose, drink a gallon of whiskey for the first time in my life, and press the lever for Romney. Tyrant Light is better than Tyrant.

But I never want to hear from you again. You have burned your bridges with me. If we are stuck with a candidate who supports coerced abortions it will be because people and groups like you have abandoned life and the Constitution rather than rally around someone genuinely pro-life.

The Lord has told us that if His people who are called by His name will humble themselves and pray then He will hear from Heaven and heal their land. If this land is not saved it will be because too many of us were like the 10 Israeli spies who believed the giants were too big to be defeated rather than Caleb and Joshua whose GOD was big enough to keep His promises. There is still a pro-life candidate in the race, and with God all things are possible. By endorsing Romney while there was still a pro-life candidate in the race you have shown your lack of faith: “Better to jump in with Baal because we know already that the Lord would get his rear whupped. And besides, Baal would at least be better than Molech...”

Not me. Count me out.

Sincerely,
Nellie

You're welcome. Newt greatly admires John Paul II (The Great).
I believe he played a part in Newts conversion.

I always pray for JPII&rs quo;intercession on behalf of Newt and our poor miserable Country.

.... and who swear that their government-coerced abortions are Constitutional because it’s a STATE (rather than the feds) who are forcing people to perform abortions against their will, their conscience, and their own religious freedom...

Sounds like a real change of heart there...

It’s the equivalent of Newt Gingrich saying he’s against adultery while bragging about still sleeping - today - with every woman who crosses his path.

Markomalley, what is wrong with these organizations? It can't be ignorance about Romney's actual beliefs, statements and actions. So what is it? Did he give or promise them money? Are they so-called "realists"? (Just like Screwtape and his fellow devils liked to call themselves "realists"...)

I wish I knew.

Maybe they've fallen victim to the same kind of brainwashing that has affected so many of our fellow FReepers recently: the utter desperation to get rid of Obama is so strong that they are willing to sign a pact with the devil to do so.

I wish I could believe that Willard had an actual conversion. But any objective look will show that it is mere political posturing.

I think what they are figuring is that they have either Romney or Obama. Obama is 100% pro-abortion, and barring a miracle, that will never change. He’s as far in their camp as one can get, hence his support to allow babies who survived an abortion to be left to die. Romney? Romney has done a 180 in language. His actions were pro-abortion when he was Governon. There’s a chance he could be telling the truth and/or could be held to his beliefs by the Republicans in Congress and in an effort to appeal to the conservative base he needs. There’s also a chance he might be saying the right things but won’t do them. That’s the thing. There’s a chance, and that’s more than the unborn will get with Obama. I’m certainly no cheerleader for Romney, but I’m saying what I believe their rationale to be. I still wish it was Santorum because the unborn couldn’t have had a more ardent defender.

Trouble is that the endorsement doesn't say that. It says:

“On pro-life issues, Mitt Romney and Barack Obama provide a stark contrast. As the country's most pro-abortion president, Barack Obama has pursued a radical pro-abortion agenda,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “It is now time for pro-life Americans to unite behind Mitt Romney. For the sake of unborn children, the disabled, and the elderly, we must win.”

Mitt Romney has taken a strong pro-life position and is committed to implementing policies to protect the unborn, the medically dependent and disabled, and the elderly. Romney opposes abortion and has called the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision, "a big mistake." Romney has expressed his support of the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for abortion.

Romney has also stated he believes the Obama health care law should be repealed. The Obama health care law would open the door to federal subsidies for abortion coverage and rationing of lifesaving medical care. He has also stated that, if elected, he would reinstate the Mexico City Policy, which prevents federal dollars from going to organizations that perform or promote abortion overseas.

In other words, no mention of his horrific past. No mention of a conversion of heart. Just more newspeak.

May God Have Mercy On This Country.

NRTL is not a pro life group. They have fought against many pro baby bills saying the time wasn’t right. They lost any hope of money from mr and mine after that. Rommney is just like them, spineless.

NLRC and Susan B. Anthony are great organizations and they live in the real world.

They could hold meetings, similar to those held here, where they wrung their hands and cried woe is me.

They chose to support the Republican candidate who is a thousand times better than the alternative.

I say good for them.

Not only have I now lost respect for these folks, I now think they both must be run by really stupid SOBs.

Unless they each got a real bundle of hard, cold cash, and I mean a lot of cash, they had no reason whatsoever to endorse Bishop Romney rather than Newt. Well, in leiu of cash they may have gotten an assurance that the Bishop Romney VP will be someone who people believe when they say they're now pro-Life.

Had they either not yet endorsed anyone or endorsed Newt, they'd have kept their integrity and they'd have had some leverage over Bishop Romney going into the campaign against King Barry which is when the Bishop will really need it. King Barry and his court jesters are going to rip Bishop Romney a second excretory orifice over anything pro-Life he says anyway since as Governor he was nothing less than an abortion facilitator.

When King Barry starts slicing into him is when Bishop Romney will really want and need some help on the abortion issue and having them in his pocket already won't have nearly the same impact as them waiting until then to endorse the Bishop. Of course, the Vichy Republicans are working their little tails off to try and make Bishop Romney look inevitable and reasonably conservative. Something they wouldn't have to do if they weren't still afraid that Bishop Romney won't be able to put Newt away before the convention.

I hope these folks got enough money to do without any more from me for a year or two. It'll be that long before I believe they've gone back to walking the walk of no compromise rather than just talking the talk the way some candidates have done.

JMHO
