Two pro-life groups endorse Romney

GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney got back-to-back endorsements from prominent pro-life groups Thursday, signaling that anti-abortion forces will overlook his previous pro-choice positions in their shared desire to defeat President Obama in the general election.

The Susan B. Anthony List threw its support behind Mr. Romney in a morning news release and National Right-to-Life, the nation’s oldest and largest pro-life organization, followed suit with a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington.

“Now is the time to unite behind Gov. Romney in order to defeat the most ideologically pro-abortion president in our nation’s history,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List. She added that her group plans to spend $10 million to $12 million in Senate and presidential battleground states “mobilizing pro-life voters to ensure victory.”

In making the announcement, Anthony List leaders said that Mr. Obama has proven to be an extremist on the abortion issue during his first term in office and highlighted how Mr. Romney has vowed to defund Planned Parenthood, appoint only constitutionalist judges to the federal bench and bar nongovernment organizations that perform or promote abortions from receiving federal funding.

“The difference between Gov. Romney and President Obama couldn’t be clearer,” said Jane Abraham, chairwoman of the group’s board of directors.

They chose to present the view that Romney (who coerces abortions) is inevitable when there is still an actual pro-life person still in the running. They chose to be part of a demoralization campaign.

They lost me because they DID wring their hands saying it is impossible for the real pro-life people to win - and then held them out asking gimme to the person who has forced people to perform abortions against their own will.

I’m the one who REFUSES to wring my hands. This battle is not over. Not by a long shot. Gingrich is not done; he should now have a united coalition of conservatives and he is only beginning the battle of conservative v liberal (rather than conservative v conservative). Some supposed “pro-lifers” have abandoned the battle before it even started, defecting to the other side. That’s supposed to demoralize us. But it’s not going to. It’s going to galvanize us instead.

Today’s Old Testament lesson was Ezekiel’s vision of the valley of dry bones. Can these bones live? Only You know, Lord. And the Lord brought dead, dry bones to life as a vast army. But no, NRLC and Susan B Anthony don’t believe that. They “live in the real world”. They can’t see the weapons of our warfare.

And the Gospel lesson was Thomas, who had seen Jesus’ death and was bitterly going to believe that’s all there was, unless he saw with his own eyes something greater than death. The Lord knew his faint heart was willing to believe so He showed Himself, complete with the wounds to show what He had been through. And through the gift of God, Thomas believed in spite of his initial bitter refusal. The hardest kind of life to breathe is a living, believing spirit into a deadened soul. But the Lord does that too - every day in this world He does that.

NRLC and Susan B Anthony don’t seem to believe in that either.

We’ve been told there will be a day when faith is impossible - not because God can’t give it but because there will be nobody capable of receiving it.

There’s no turning back once we as a society have deadened ourselves to that point. We’re playing for forever right here, right now. And yes, that IS “the real world”.

Two “pro-life” groups too stinkin’ lazy to ignore a liar’s rhetoric, and with too much MSM wool over their eyes to look at his ugly record.

For shame. May their faces burn red in embarrassment for all their days.

They don’t care because they are indeed fulfilling their real mission: to get pro-lifers to vote Republican.

You asked a very good question.

I could understand a right-to-life endorsement in the general election for Mitt Romney if he wins the Republican primary. This is a single-issue organization, after all, and it is beyond dispute that Obama’s rhetoric is worse than Romney’s.

To make this endorsement in the primary makes no sense unless the purpose is to give “cover” to Romney and pressure Santorum into endorsing Romney rather than Gingrich.

I cannot imagine why these organizations did this unless backroom politics is involved.
