Yep, you make an excellent point but I haven’t heard of any neighbors specifically bashing Zimmerman, although a few certainly want to get their white-guilt consciences re-Obamanized by trying to be “helpful” to the nice black family. I suspect that most of the neighbors support Zimmerman but are loathe to speak out for fear of being politically incorrect.

I didn’t say “bash” Zimmerman. I said that psychologically they would have an incentive to buy into the media narrative.

Have you heard these witnesses?

http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/07/video-eyewitness-to-the-trayvon-martin-shooting-speaks-out/?iref=obinsite

This was the witness who was on the phone to 911 when the gunshot went off.

Witness: “The young boy was the one crying for help.”

There was NO YOUNG BOY involved in the incident. That was a figment of the media narrative. But the witness has absorbed the media narrative of a “young boy” being gunned down as she recollects the incident in the interview.

Q “Who was on top?”

Witness: “It was very dark but …the larger person was on top”

Q “What happened after the gun went off with the larger man?”

Witness: “…a couple of seconds later that larger man was walking closer to where I could see him… obviously the boy was dead and the other person got up and was walking away from the body”

In reality, we have Zimmerman at 5’8” wearing a red jacket and Martin at 6’2” wearing a hooded sweatshirt. We know from witness John who saw the incident with more detail and spoke to Zimmerman during the fight that the man in the red jacket was on the bottom. And that accords with the physical evidence of the grass stains and wounds to the back of the head of Zimmerman.

Another witness (Mary Cutcher) is mind-reading Zimmerman afterward as walking around thinking to himself “my God what did I do?”:

http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2012/03/20/neighbor-trayvon-martin-shooting-wasnt-self-defense/

Here she is in another interview. Note that the MSM news anchor in the intro and the interviewer both describe Zimmerman straight up as a “vigilante” (not alleged vigilante). This is one of the media organizations exposed to a defamation claim by Zimmerman if he turns out not to in fact be a vigilante.

http://www.wftv.com/news/news/witness-sanford-police-blew-us-teen-slaying/nLSqk/

Witness: “The cry stopped when the gun went off, so I know it was the little boy.”

Witness: “I know there was no self-defense.”

Interviewer: “Cutcher believes even if Martin got the best of him, it’s no excuse to kill a teenager half his size.”

Again, there WAS NO LITTLE BOY involved in the altercation. That was created by the media. Trayvon was not half the size of Zimmerman. That was a media fiction. But the witness has absorbed the media narrative and talks about “the little boy” and “half his size.”

These are pretty egregious examples of a false media narrative influencing witness accounts in a case in which a man is on trial for murder.
