The scandal involving at least 11 U.S. Secret Service personnel that began Wednesday in Colombia could be much larger than initially reported, a Republican lawmaker said Sunday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), whose panel maintains jurisdiction over all federal agencies, said he had reason to believe that more than 11 Secret Service personnel were involved but never specifically explained why.

I still refuse to believe that all 11 SS men would go along with this. And what about the 5 military people involved?
The facts will come in as they want them.

There was a photo in todays’ NY Post of the SS agents departing the scene. Of the four or five that were shown, none were holders’ peeps.

O.K., I get it, and it is a really big deal.

But, it’s terrible lousy reporting on the part of the Wash.Post in that not one spec of the article has the slightest mention of exactly what the whole issue was really about.

Limited. He can ask to have someone removed and he (and his family) can express an interest in one of the existing Secret Service Agents within the general detail but that’s about it. If he picked a Secret Service Agent from outside the general detail there is a lot of specialized training after the person has been cleared for the job. I’d bet on it being longer than a year for an experienced Secret Service agent to get through the approval process and training to be allowed on the detail. Right now it might be easier since there are going to be some openings. I’m sure the Secret Service would give a lot of deference to his desires for someone to join his detail and especially the body detail.
