The number in 2010 was 2.9 million Muslims representing 4.6% of the population, a 74% increase since 2001.
England, like many other countries, has been experiencing a PC politic that has allowed massive Muslim immigration and influence. The US is no exception.
I dont like it, but what I am trying to point out is that despite the hype, its minor in its existance in the UK. It is a civil law legally superceded by English law. It is used only for civil purposes, ie divorce, business acrimony. Not criminal.
I would rather not have any religious civil law in the UK. Either Sharia or Beth Din, which has been here for 100yrs.

1—There is no agreement on the actual figure, 2.9m has been quoted, but lower figures of 2.4 and 2.5 have been quoted. Each study gives different figures.
2-2.9m?. That still means that 59,318,861 Brits are not Muslim. And that Muslim figure remember includes all white and black British converts. So 95.4% of the UK is not Muslim. And with restrictions coming on non-EU immigration, that 4.6 figure is unlikely ever to get any higher. Far from the 10, 15, 20, 25% hype I read here, in 20-30 years time, the Muslim population figure is far more likely to be little more than it is now. Say 5%.
So far from being bred out, the idea that white Britain will be dead by 2050 is a nonsense. 90-95% of Britain will always be white, European and (nominally) Christian.
Islam is NOT going to take over the UK. Ok?.
3—The biggest immigration to the UK in the last 15 yrs has not been Muslim, it has been the huge number of Eastern Europeans, notably Poles. White Europeans who will ‘help’ the racial-ethnic makeup of Britain over time.

You confuse the fact that I criticise with the assumption that I ergo downplay the problem. Is there a problem with Islamic extremism in the UK?. Should we be concerned/worried?. Do we need to combat it?.

BUT much of what I read here about UK Islam, and from conservative America, frankly is a lot of nonsense. Written by people who dont live here, and in many cases have never even been here. Far too much of it is hysteria. Blowing a serious but relatively minor problem way out of proportion.
Some of the ‘facts’ I have been told here or read online about Britain and Islam are downright bizarre or hilarious (25% of the UK is Muslim is my favourite).
I am British. I live in Britain. I know my country better than any American posting here. And I lived through terrorism for nearly 30 years week in week out, and have seen firsthand terrorism. I know therefore of what I say.

Christians reflect the light of Christ to the world. When we profess Christian beliefs, but then act as the world does, we diminish our effectiveness. This consequence is magnified with Muslims, who do not separate religious and cultural values. Most Muslims already equate Christianity with the decadent culture of the West, so any immoral behavior they see in your life will only reinforce those stereotypes. Be sure to live out an authentic Christian faith and remember that you are being closely watched by those you witness to. Also, because Muslims treat the Qur’an with great respect, make sure they see you treat your Bible with respect; do not set your Bible on the floor.

Already, the spread of Islam is impressive – and threatening. The Muslim’s well-funded evangelistic efforts have been so successful to date that Muslims expect to be dominant in Europe within the next few decades: furthermore, they expect to become the world’s largest religion in that same time period. Their growing influence is also evident here in the US, where mosques are being erected in major cities, including a replica of the Dome of the Rock mosque (the original is in Jerusalem) going up in suburban Phoenix, AZ.
Now for something disturbing: the Islamic concepts of tamkeen and i’dad. Tamkeen (‘empowerment’) is the strengthening of Islamic identity (as opposed to assimilating into the host society), and is a fundamental precondition for establishing Islamic rule. Without a significant number of persons identifying with being Muslims, having faith in Islamic scripture and its interpreters, Islamic leaders would have no cadres to base their authority upon, and thus no chance to seize power and establish Islamic rule in the land.
The next step, i’dad, is the practical preparation for seizing power in the land. This means building and strengthening Islamic infrastructure in the land, building networks and making Muslims proudly display their Islamic identity in public. I’dad also constitutes the practical preparation for the final physical effort to establish Islamic rule in the land, executed by a well-prepared army of soldiers fighting in the Cause of Allah, also known as jihad. Physical fighting would be a foregone conclusion at this point. For that reason, military training and accumulating weapon stocks are natural parts of i’dad. Logically, finding weapons in mosques or other Islamic buildings is a stark sign of warning to the host societies.

Perhaps you are familiar with Parlimentarian George Galloway now representing the “Respect” Party. An exclusively Islamic party. Is he just a loud mouth or a portent for the future?

And Respect is heavily supported by Muslims, but it is not a Muslim party. White, middle class lefties support it as well.
