The Los Angeles Police Department is expected to become the first in the country to provide a separate holding facility for transgender inmates.
At the detention center, transgender people will receive both male and female clothing and be able to receive medical treatment such as hormone injections, KTLA reports.
Capt. Dave Lindsay, commander of the LAPD's jail division, announced the policy change Thursday, saying it will help create "an environment that’s safe and secure, as there's been a history of violence against transgender people" in jail.
Other changes were also noted. Police will no longer be able to pat down inmates to determine their sex, and will have to rely on visual clues to know if someone identifies as a man or woman. Officers will have to address transgender inmates by their preferred name, even if it differs from their birth name.

ENOUGH ALREADY!!! Why is the entire country forced to kowtow to mentally ill perverts - and what is worse, why are TAXPAYERS forced to PAY for these sicko perverts' hormones!~!!???? Without which they will grow beards and all that stuff. It's not just radical surgical mutilation they need to look sort of like a fake woman, but they have to have constant intake of female hormones. sickening, enough is enough but when you have many in the GOP now who have been going to their elitist cocktail DC beltway parties then meeting these kind of people then we certainly need a new party , a party which stands for the country, the family not some sick social engineering
