Mitt Romney leads President Obama in the first Gallup national daily tracking poll.

Romney took 47 percent support from surveyed registered voters, while Obama took 45 in a poll conducted between April 11 and April 15. Romney's edge though is within the poll's three point margin of error.

Independents tipped the scale in favor of Romney, going for the former Massachusetts governor 45 percent to 39.

:( browndeer...Is it really right to try to get Freepers banned for saying they will vote against Soetoro in November. An ABO vote? That is NOT promoting mittens, he hasn’t even secured the nomination. I said ABO back when they were all still in there and when Perry and Newt were ahead in the polls.

Four months is more than enough time to turn this show boat around.

We know about MR, we get it. Over and over the same thing, it’s like beating a dead horse. I doubt anyone here voted for him in their primary or will vote for him.

In November, that’s a different story if he is the one left standing and it is an IF. Like you said, 4 months is a long way off. Anything could happen. Newt with Sarah as VP would work for me.

And Dems as usual were overpolled in this poll. Because numbers between Dems and Repubs were identical 90 for Zero for Dems, 90 for Romney for Rs 6 Ds for Romney 6 Rs for Obama.

Sorry for the "I'll vote for the worst President in history who will declare martial law and ban term limits and elections..."

I'll take Romney any day. I want one of these FReepers for Obama who ever met Obama one on one like I did and spoke to him one on one like I did, and then come back and tell me you'll vote for this dictator.

Obama makes Bill Clinton look like Barry Goldwater...

If Obama wins you will never own a gun again, if you resist you'll be jailed or shot.

If Obama wins he will eliminate term limits by Executive Order and declare Martial Law.

Don't think it can't happen? Has anyone done anything about the Executive Order passed on New Year's declaring any American can be arrested for any reason and held indefinitely?

Romney was the bottom of my list, I voted for Santorum. But I unlike most FReepers here will be able to vote against Obama for a 3rd time. I voted against him for Senate, President and will do so again.

I'm not a Romney supporter, you can read my posts over 10 years, I'm a person who has met Obama and knows what his agenda is. He fits the profile of a tin pot dictator and every day he grabs more power.

If you want everyone who will vote for Romney - because they know how awful Obama is - then there will be no more Free Republic at all...

To threaten people with "bye bye" and Viking Kitties is really distasteful.

Look at this thread, the majority of people are going to be voting for Romney simply because a Second Obama Term means, Martial Law, No more 2nd Amendment, No more Term Limits.

For the 500th time, I met him one on one for 10 minutes when he was a mere Senator and gazed in the eyes of pure evil. This was way back in 2005.

As onyx could tell you, I first was for Sarah till she said she wouldn't run, then Bachmann, then Cain, then Newt and when it was time to vote in Illinois I voted Rick Santorum because Newt was running at around 4% and I didn't want a vote to Newt to help Romney's margin.

After Rick withdrew what am I left to do? If you stay home you forget about Tea Party candidates running in State and Federal Elections!!!

I'm not going to come on here and pimp for Romney. I'm not going to any of his stupid campaign events.. I WILL be supporting Tea Party Candidates including the man who is running against the Rat in my Congressional District!!!

Yeah we are stuck with a bum at the top of the ticket, but there are so many Tea Party candidates. Here in Illinois the most vital race is getting Rep Joe Walsh (Tea Party) re-elected over token victim candidate Tammy Duckworth, who has viciously attacked the Tea Party.

As I said write in Sarah for POTUS, but PLEASE support your local, state and Federal Tea Party Candidates!!!

When I saw Tea Party Congressman Joe Walsh grill the GSA thugs I was thrilled and laughing at the cowardly GSA bums.

But please don't think we are Romney cheerleaders if we are voting for him. We are voting AGAINST the most evil corrupt thug President in American History. He will absolutely destroy this country. Please look into history and the rise of dictators from Lenin to Hitler, this is how they started, once they firmly grabbed power, they silenced or killed the opposition. I wouldn't doubt this will happen.

And if every FReeper was banned for voting for Romney this website would utterly collapse because 80-90 percent of folks who contribute regularly to FReepathons would be gone.

I love Free Republic, but I don't like the threats from folks who are demanding ZOTTING anyone claiming they will vote for a box of rocks over Obama... As I originally stated I am not pimping for Romney I haven't said one positive thing about him in this post. But I've said only about 1% of how awful Obama is for our country.

AMEN! We did fight Bush on many issues and won. Mainly illegal amnesty AND when he tried to nominate his Secretary for SCOTUS which resulted in Justice Alito!!!

Duckworth makes me sick.

At least she actually wounded in combat unlike the democrat “hero” Max Cleland who picked up a live grenade.

“As for NC, Obama “won” it by the narrowest of margins, he won’t do better.”

Agreed. NC will be in the GOP column this time out.

“VA though I’m a little worried about.”

Swap VA for WI and NH and you end up with +1 EV (14 to 13). Walker/Ryan should move things in the right direction in WI. And Mittens wins NH.

The problem is that we were already counting on NH’s 4 EVs to get to 270 EVs. The 22 McCain states + the Omaha CD + IN + NC + OH + FL + VA = 266 EVs. If Romney can’t carry VA, he’d be at 267 (3 short) even if he won both WI and NH.

If Romney picks a conservative runningmate, I won’t be much concerned about VA; Romney should outperform Republicans in NoVA, and the conservative runningmate (plus campaigning by McDonnell) should get us the sort of turnout we need in the rest of the state. Ditto with NC and FL. My biggest concern is OH, which is why I think that Romney should pick Rob Portman (who is also a conservative, a Methodist, and has appeal to blue-collar voters) as his runningmate.

Well, I can’t help that. I don’t think JR likes the Kenyan anymore than I do. We differ in that he won’t vote for the R nominee and I probably will, but that’s life and there are more FReepers that will vote than won’t. That is clear when you read the threads and also take into account many will vote but aren’t saying so and that is a fact.

I agree about Portman, for the reasons you listed.

Honestly, with gas prices the way they are, I suspect this election won’t be that close.

Vic, Jim is not telling anyone for whom to vote. He is asking, telling, pleading, cajoling FReepers to keep their Romney campaigning to themselves.

You or anyone else want to vote for Romney? Fine! Go vote for Romney, but do not push him nor try to convince others to vote for him for whatever reason on this site at the request of the site owner.

FReepers have been well-exposed by JimRob to the perfidy that is the campaign and record of Bishop Romney, and to continue to bow to the communists running the upper echelon of the G(D)OPe by accepting their thin gruel of the "lesser of two evils" just sends us to a living Hell on Earth a little more slowly. But Hell on Earth is where we will end up if we don't wake up and see what has happened to our election process.

We get angry with the electorate for continuing to put leftists in office when we should be angry with "the dead," who all vote three times and always for the communists, if you catch my drift.

Again, please FReepers, vote for whomever you want, but do not campaign in any way, on this site, for someone as vile and destructive as Romney.

And don't lose heart because the mainly slime media says we should. They're all hat and no cattle.

if he does not...my intent is to beat Obama with the nominee we have and then hold that nominee's feet to the fire.

Thank you Jeff for voicing reason!!! Instead of the personal attacks on those of us who are voting on the basis of VOTING AGAINST OBAMA!!!

And I don't ever want to leave this website nor do I think the leaders of this website which to banish anyone who is going to vote AGAINST Obama. They know where we are as conservatives, if some choose to stay home fine, but beating Obama is the most important thing. This may be the most important history in American History.

Have you not read this thread. We aren't pimping for Romney. We are people who know who evil Obama is and will be voting AGAINST him. Your threats are shameful.

If every FReeper voting for Romney over Obama, there will be no more Free Republic as 90% of members would be banned or driven away therefore FReepathons would fail as their would be no money from the 90% who were zotted or driven away by people like you.
