Mitt Romney leads President Obama in the first Gallup national daily tracking poll.

Romney took 47 percent support from surveyed registered voters, while Obama took 45 in a poll conducted between April 11 and April 15. Romney's edge though is within the poll's three point margin of error.

Independents tipped the scale in favor of Romney, going for the former Massachusetts governor 45 percent to 39.

I criticized someone for calling it “bad news” that Obama would lose. That is campaigning for Romney?

Why are the people who say it is better to elect Obama, not being criticized by Free Republic? But Jim is calling me a RINO and telling me to write an opus and leave.

It’s really sad what is going on. Sure, I expect posters to call each other names and have fights. But the owner of the site is calling me a RINO when I have posted conservative opinions here on every topic for about 13 years?

I’ve always been respectful to Jim.

Well, if you continue accusing me of wanting Obama reelected, or continue attacking and posting insults to me or my fellow resistance posters on FR, you will have no choice in the matter. Either knock it off or b-gone!!

The choice is yours!

I think I’ve heard the “check story” from a few customers before.

Yes, the GOP convention is not until the end of August, but Newt is not going to win. You’re welcome to hold on to the idea that some how Newt will rise, but it is impossible at this point. The delegates are not going to revolt.

I told you I supported Newt. But he’s lost, it’s time to move on. And since when is Newt the FR candidate? Yes Jim Robinson doesn’t like Romney, but there are others that have just as much chance and more support then
Newt even if they are technically not “in”. That’s how small a chance Newt
has now. Are you trying to tell me FR can tell me I can’t vote for Romney
and have to vote for Newt? I may vote for neither if that is my choice, but
no one tells me who I will vote for! One would think as a conservative you
would know that. ABO (that has a chance!)

He hasn't lost MORON! If you want to vote for a RINO then you are also a RINO!

When he does, what then?

When it comes down to the two, like with Perot, you either vote to win or vote and lose. By not voting the nominee you will vote to lose.

It’s unbelievable, almost. Give it a couple more days and some in here will be openly saying they will vote for obama.

Really, you're calling me a Moron? If you are not Politically astute enough to realize the states left in play, the amount of delegates available, those locked into their vote, those already endorsing and committed to Romney, then you shouldn't be calling anyone anything.

Now run along like a good little deer and report me to Jim Robinson. I just reported the facts, didn't campaign for anyone.

I guess Newt must be a RINO to because he said if Romney is the nominee, he's behind him 100% and will campaign for him. So add another RINO to your list instead of doing something productive. Like someone up thread said, do you take pride in anointing yourself the FR Gestapo?

Romney is NOT the only alternative to Obama if we act and you aren’t a realist, sweetie; you’re acting like a quitter. The Republican Party does not now, nor has it ever, belonged to any particular faction. Four months is more than enough time to turn this show boat around.

I am on the deck of the Titanic, getting into the last lifeboat available, and you say I act like a quitter...., O.K. I guess, but I'm actually a realist.

You cannot turn an aircraft carrier around in 5 minutes and you cannot turn around a national campaign in 4 months. My guy, Gingrich is heads above anyone else in the race, on either side, but apparently the voters don't agree with me and are going to choose Romney. Now, they are not all stupid, some very influential people have stepped forward and are backing Romney as our best bet to beat Obama. We'd better be on board or we might see another disastrous 4 years of the idiot in chief.

You guys just don’t get it. We’re tired of RINOs, so we want to stay home, or write in someone.

When Obama wins, the GOP-e will get the message!

Four more years of obama and the country will be COMPLETELY destroyed. But thats fine with you as long as Republicans “get the message,” eh? If the obama folks are reading what some are posting here, their smiles must be a mile wide.

Exactly what I was thinking. David Axelrod probably reads Free Republic everyday with a big grin on his face.

I don’t understand why I read such horrible, power grabbing, anti-American stories about Obama on this site everyday and then am encouraged to not vote for his opponent, giving him another four years. Why post these articles telling us how bad Obama is? So when he wins we can have a scrap book tracing our demise to pass on to future generations?

Nice try, but Barry’s opponent has not been decided yet so your rominy ‘sick o fancy’ is rather exposed.

I don’t understand it either. It doesn’t make sense. If they are so hell bent on ensuring another 4 years for obama, they should stop criticizing him.

I can see your point of view, truly I can.

Some of my closest friends voted for Obama even though I was able to prove to them during the summer of 2008 that his family claimed, through interviews with many African publications, that BHO2 was born in Kenya.

It is a shame that more folks do not do research on candidates but maybe I have a gift to recognize honesty when I hear and see it. Neither Obama nor Romney are honest men, period. They snooker people into seeing them, not as they are, but as the viewer wishes to see them.

Terrycarl, past is prologue here in this election. BHO2 is not going to improve his performance during a second term and Romney will not magically morph into a conservative respecting limited government. MR is a national socialist with no respect for our constitutional rights.

A point to remember: Ronald Reagan was polling 30% in October, 1980, yet he went on to win the Presidency in November.

Anything can and will happen in the next 7 months. All it takes is people like you, me, and whole Hell of a lot of chutzpah!

No one here is hell bent on ensuring another 4 years for Obama in the White House, in fact, quite the opposite. What we are determined to do is prevent a self-avowed progressive, a socialist named Mitt Romney, from seizing control of the Republican Party.

George Soros has said that there is no difference between Romney and obama. He should know and has no reason to lie.

What we are proposing is to take back our party from the nabobs of negativism and run a conservative as the next Republican nominee.

This isn’t over ‘til November, and a lot can happen in 7 months.

Am I actually posting to a little kid? You’ve called me a moron twice (sophisticated word choice/s) and seem to enjoy running to the owner of the site to “tell” on people that you assume aren’t following the rules. You also don’t address any of the things actually said to you, just name call. Are you going throw a temper tantrum when Newt endorses Romney? Because it’s going to come to that point. I suggest you put yourself in a time out when that happens, for every one’s sake. We all know you’ll add him to your RINO list, and claim you knew it all along. Just a little refresher and maybe you can answer this time: Newt has said he will support the nominee 100% and campaign for him. He has said on Greta it will probably be Romney. He says Romney is 100% better then Obama. If people are wrong for saying the same thing on this site, yet you agree and support Newt, I guess I will be forced to call you names and report you.

Do you read newspapers or online news, check out delegate counts, endorsements, study polls of the vote in upcoming states, seen a spread sheet on the primary at all? I am not voting for Romney in my Primary on the 24th. But he will be the nominee based on all the evidence. I am dealing in reality.
