(Fox News) - PHOENIX — Mitt Romney will address the Republican National Committee meeting of state party chairmen this Friday in Phoenix, where he will stake his claim to the GOP nomination and call upon party leaders to unite, FOX News Channel reported.
The meeting will be attended by more than 40 of the RNC’s 50 state GOP chairmen, along with 200 additional officials, activists and political professionals as they gear up for the fall campaign to oust President Barack Obama.
Although Romney had a major fundraiser planned for Friday in Phoenix for some time, his appearance at the RNC meeting was only finalized Monday, FOX reported.
At the meeting, Romney, who has yet to officially wrap up the nomination, is expected to explicitly assume the role of titular head of the GOP as its 2012 presidential nominee.
The former Massachusetts governor will give his marching orders to the state GOP chairmen and spur them to the shared cause of retaking the White House.

“he will stake his claim to the GOP nomination and call upon party leaders to unite”
Let the 50 of them “unite”, I doubt that’s enough to win a national election.
If Romeny secures the nomination with the help of the GOP elite, I’m going shopping on election day. I’ll be very busy. *grin*
Yep. Read that.
