A dispute between the Clark County firefighters union and the county has boiled over into a lawsuit.
Firefighters Local 1908 filed suit Monday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas complaining that recently, the county has tried to exclude battalion chiefs from union membership by trying to engage them in ''consultations about the countys position in negotiations with Local 1908 concerning Local 1908s rank-and-file bargaining unit.''
Union attorneys say this is a departure from past practice in which the battalion chiefs weren't consulted about labor negotiaitons, even though the chiefs assign work to Fire Department employees and supervise them.

All public employees should be banned from union membership
That bears repeating, OFTEN!
All public employees should be banned from union membership.
The unions get the supervisor, then the employer loses all control.
I believe most Departments consider Battalion Chiefs to be Management and do not allow them to remain active in the Union.
I know mine did.
If supervisors are allowed to join the union, nothing will ever get done. Not a good idea.
Yes. No government employee should be in any sort of union.
Exactly right. BC's are management and as such do not belong in the union. If Las Vegas FF are IAFF they are affiliated with the AFL-CIO and the thug Trumka will be going for every body they can possibly get with support of the thug in the WH.
You don't think firefighters should be millionaires and retire at 45?
