You are correct and that is the right thing to do. But there is no indication that this is a special ed school. Teachers and administrative staff are NOT allowed to touch children.

they can’t break anything or hurt themselves such as a corner

LOL! If they were obedient to STAY in the corner they would have been obedient to stop when told to stop. A kid like this would not stay in a corner.

Hurt themselves? She hurt the teacher, is that OK as long as she didn't get hurt?

Stop with the race card, it's at a point it's a retard statement, IMO.

You are making some weird comments. The child was in a holding cell in the police station - not in jail with inmates!

OK, this is exactly what should have happened after she knocked over the bookcase.

Call her mother—go find her mother—and have Mom remove her from school. That’s it. A parent’s responsibility.

Something similar happened with my son, once. I came and got him. It’s my job to punish him anyway, certainly not the police.

I mean, come on people, she’s six, for cryin’ out loud! There’s a huge difference between a six year old having a tantrum, even knocking stuff over, and Kelbold and Harris...

And thinking about that, those cops in Colorado were sure a lot more demure about taking down those two (while they were still killing their victims) than the cops in Georgia taking on a “vicious” six year old.

Stupidity is an epidemic in this country. So is an out of control legal system and political correctness. Still, Lawyers and PC would not have such an affect on us if the whole damn country wasn’t becoming so damn stupid! #$@$@#$@&^!!!!!!

You obviously have never read lord of the flies. Children are nothing particularly special if they have been raised without rules and consequences. The truth is that it is not the tantrum that is the problem It is that we do not allow school staff to discipline children for fear of lawsuits. The parents of this child should be ashamed of themselves

Salecia Johnson, 6, was accused of tearing items off the walls and throwing furniture in an outburst Friday at Creekside Elementary School, Macon television station WMAZ-TV (http://on.wmaz.com/HPb7nr ) reported. Police said the girl knocked over a shelf that injured the principal.

Calling the cops was inappropriate. The wee girl went nuts, and there's a special facility nearby where the staff are trained and equipped deal with such cases.

And they knew they would be expelled - unless they wanted the wrath at home, they wouldn’t even think of it.

My pre-school mommy-and-me teacher called this “time-in” as opposed to “time-out”. I used it with my daughter’s tantrums when she was 5. She never did the “terrible twos”, so it was kind of a shock when she had her tantrum stage three years late, and got in trouble with the kindergarten teacher.

Bull. Not having classmates who behaved like wild animals has nothing to do with “sheltering.” If you believe that kind of thing is common to everyone’s childhood, something’s wrong.

NIce to know that you go to such extremes.

You DO NOT know the history of the chid. You do not know if the parent is even responsive to raising a child.

What we do know is that left to their own devices children have the capacity to be nasty and brutal. Would you rather where house this chid in an institution for her formative years???

You act as if calling the parents would magically make them good parents.....You are delusional

exercising powers the people haven’t personally assented to.

Duh. Society has rules for a reason, you break them there is a penalty. For example, if it's a 35 mile hr zone, do you personally assent to them or go 70? I wouldn't want to live near you if you have a problem obeying authority - and you'd want to 'exercise your own authority' - when it wasn't granted to you.
