* DETROIT (WJBK) -- It all started at a Coney Island at Dequindre and State Fair Tuesday afternoon. A 29-year-old man and his 19-year-old brother claim they went there to meet some guys about buying a television.

Two men only identified as 19-year-old males got into an SUV with the two brothers. They took a short drive down Lumpkin, then this alleged sale apparently turned into a robbery.

The brothers claim one of the 19-year-olds pulled out a gun and demanded money, and as one brother was searching his pockets, the oldest pulled out a gun and fired.

"All my friends, we heard gunshots," said Tanisha Walker. "It was like six, seven or eight."

Windows on the SUV were shattered by bullets. One 19-year-old died at the scene. The other was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the brothers drove back to the Coney Island and called police.

We're told the shooter has a license to conceal and carry, but he will still face some very tough questions.

Detroit police are going through the shooter's story with a fine tooth comb. They have confiscated one of the weapons and they have the SUV where this happened. It is still a very active investigation.

Meanwhile, we're told the shooter is in police custody.

"they went there to meet some guys about buying a television."

A television - yeah, right. I bet it was a white powder television.

Yeah, I always get into a vehicle with a couple of guys I don't know when I'm buying a TV.

Drug deal.

I’ve never wanted a great deal on a TV enough to get in an SUV with strangers and go for a drive.

I’m all for it. Maybe then they can grow some brains.

If you could see what Detroit looked like at the height of the auto industry compared to now you would faint. Sixty years of the UAW and Socialism and the place looks like Dresden, Germany after the big bombing raid of WWII.

Self defense is self defense unless during the commission of a crime in Michigan.

The TV story strains credulity.

If anyone has not seen Detroit recently, Google Earth it and take a tour.

There are tens of thousands of houses YET to be torn down.

Large sections need to be reclaimed. I always envisioned a very large park that would separate the pointes and Detroit. Might save the points and Detroit. Harper Woods is already going fast.

I suppose they could organize and run some sort of ‘brain cartel’. Then you’d have a new kind of suburban blight...Oh wait, that’s already happened with popular culture, the entertainment industry and public education (indoctrination).

Farming in Detroit will require billions of dollars in decontamination and soil restoration.

Agree. How anything will be allowed by the EPA will be a surprise. Environmentalists are fighting lead bullets for hunting, how is all that industrial contamination going to be met. And this is Detroit so there still is the lead bullet problem :-)

Agree. How anything will be allowed by the EPA will be a surprise. Developers won't even touch the brown fields of Detroit. Environmentalists are fighting lead bullets for hunting, how is all that industrial contamination going to be met. And this is Detroit so there still is the lead bullet problem :-) The real estate departments of Detroit epitomizes incompetence and corruption. There is nothing but hurdles
