Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) cited seniors' love of junk mail in urging passage of a United States Postal Service reform bill.
In his opening speech on Wednesday, Reid called on the Senate to quickly move forward on the passage of S. 1789, the 21st Century Postal Service Act, which restructures pension plans for Postal Service employees as well as allows the USPS to access overpayments in the Federal Employee Retirement System.
"Madam President," Reid said to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), the presiding officer of the Senate, "I'll come home tonight here to my home in Washington and there'll be some mail there. A lot of it is what some people refer to as junk mail, but for the people who are sending that mail, it's very important.
"And when talking about seniors, seniors love getting junk mail. It's sometimes their only way of communicating or feeling like they're part of the real world," Reid continued. "Elderly Americans, more than anyone in America, rely on the United States Postal Service, but unless we act quickly, thousands of post offices ... will close. I've said this earlier today; I repeat it."
This will open the door to unlimited bailouts by this failed government service.
Reid is a sub-human thing.
And should be treated as such.
And one wonders why your local ditch digger carries more respect the the creatures dwelling in our senate?

Sundays are a treasure trove for seniors: the shallow, saccharine idiocy of Parade Magazine followed by the fearmongering, leftist ‘60 Minutes.’
It’s easy to see how the rest of the week’s offerings might seem a bit meager - at least until more fearmongering and leftism from ABC’s ‘20/20.’
But are Val-Pak coupons and classified ad circulars really going to fill the void?

Wow. This man is an idiot. I can't see anyone of any age depending on pre approved credit card applications and metal roofing deals for contact to the outside word. This is lunacy. I can see his deadbeat Rat welfare mom constituents waiting eagerly for the next Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes offer though.
The arrogance of this statement is profound. It illustrates once again the way that liberals view their fellow man. They divide people up in convenient boxes, assign labels to the boxes, place themselves into the elite overseeing "We're better than you" box and proceed to figure out ways of keeping everyone in their box so as to enhance their access to money and power.
These people are insane.
One of the things I love about our new place in KY is that we can go weeks without a single piece of mail. Nobody even sends us junk mail.

I am a senior and I hate the stuff. On Wednesday I go home and on the floor is a scattering of junk mail pushed through my mail slot which I promptly pick up and pitch in the garbage. I HATE WEDNESDAY mail. After Katrina, we got a break and they would pitch all that stuff at the post office but that was short lived. Reid can’t be that totally stupid, can he? I guess he has servants (white of course) to pitch it for him, I guess.
