Chilling video has surfaced of the moment a Texas cop responding to an emergency call at the wrong address shot and killed a man's beloved dog.

The officer’s police cruiser dashboard camera captured the event, which happens out of view.

Austin cop Thomas Griffin is heard shouting "Get your dog!" barely a second before firing a single fatal shot at Michael Paxton's Blue Heeler, Cisco, on Saturday afternoon.

"What are you doing? What did you shoot my dog for," Paxton is heared yelling hysterically. "I live here!"

"Oh my God, I can't believe you just killed my dog," he says. "I need to get him to the vet. What are you doing here?"

Griffin explains to Paxton he's been called about a disturbance. However, as it turned out, he was at the wrong house.

If this is accurate, then at least in Austin, it’s unofficial policy to shoot dogs:

A friend of mine had an APD detective play guitar in his band for about a year. The detective told him the cops are trained to shoot any dog that “gets in the way.” It’s an unofficial policy that is part of the SWAT training. So these cops know they can shoot first and ask questions later and the department will back them up. When APD claims they have no “official” policy for handling dogs in these situations, it is the truth. They only have an “unofficial” policy and that is shoot the dog first, apologize later (if you feel like it). People who think this is no big deal would probably sing a different tune if it was their dog.

I’m starting with the “As”...what news organizations DO bootlickers consider authoritative these days?

My thoughts are the officer is wrong. He was at the wrong address. It was the correct one given by dispatch so that is his only cover.

My issue is that he pulls his gun on the male person walking around the corner, yells at him to put up his hands, then yells to control the dog, then he shoots.
This occurs in the span of about 2 seconds. The male citizen was not expecting the police so I am sure he was startled, which startled the dog.

Once you put your gun into your hand you have great difficulty transitioning to another less lethal weapon. He should never have had his gun out unless he saw a weapon. This would have allowed him to transition to another weapon or take the extra second or two to determine if he was indeed under a threat.

Too many LEO’s pull the gun when there is no need.

They are all considered 'legimate' by the Police Dept's.

Clearly heat has to be placed on the Mayors, because the Police don't care.

“Mixing native Dingoes with Collies and other herding dogs, Australian George Elliott developed the Blue Heeler in 1840. Australian cattlemen and ranchers loved the breed’s toughness and work ethic, and the dogs quickly became popular as cattle herders. Hey Texan, check this out: http://youtu.be/T7fzQehxz_Q And, of course, it’s a Blue Heeler!”

Maybe that picture in the story didn’t do him justice, but that video, WOW. Impressive dog, and yes, VERY CUTE.

Now that that’s out of the way, do you have any comments on the shooting itself?

plural of “A”, written as As when the letter is uppercase and a’s when the letter is lowercase.
