Nope, not the same with kids, they are playing with known toys. A black powder pistol is not considered a firearm either by the ATF, but it will kill ya just as dead.Even if you put your hand in your coat pocket, pointed it at the teller and told her you had a gun when in fact you do not, will still get you and ARMED robbery charge. The crime is instilling the fear of a deadly weapon. Brandishing a firearm or a fake firearm pretending it is real, is the same thing. If you can't see that, I suppose you think it would be alright to pull out a fake knife and hold it to someones throat while telling them you are going to behead them. It is on the same level as communicating a threat, real or perceived.

. . However, during the movie, a few rows in front of us, two teen aged kids sat there and laughed at, ridiculed and mocked the horror portrayed and the people getting blown to bits. I tell you that I wanted to strangle the little twerps for their callousness, disrespect and colossal stupidity.

they're teenagers. That's what teenagers do. They're immature and unless their parents have instilled a little bit of discipline or empathy, some shop teacher pulling out a fake gun isn't going to change them. The "scared straight" programs are just as useless to these little miscreants. The young kids usually go right back to the behavior thatboriginally gotbthem in the program.

Irrelevant. The teacher wasn’t robbing anyone. He also wasn’t brandishing a black power gun or fake knife. Your points are worthless and have nothing to do with this story. Sorry.

Yeah...so? Is your alternative to give up and give in to the leftist ideology which has poisoned the minds of our youth since Roosevelt?

I’ve already stated I don’t agree with this guy’s methods, but what you are talking about is no different than the NBP party and the idiot race bating poverty pimps calling for Zimmerman’s head.

All I’ve heard on this post from several posters is how this guy should go to jail or be shot or worse...and over what!?...Trying to scare some sense into brain dead zombie kids? He never put their lives in danger. He wasn’t brandishing a deadly weapon. Worst that should happen to him is that he gets fired...which is not my call but the school district’s. End of story.

All those calling for his head on a lance should have their own heads examined.

First of all, my four kids aren’t thugs and if somebody lumped them in for a group punishment session and they were not involved , yeah I’d be a bit perturbed. Secondly, this guy is a dumb ass government bureaucrat that found a niche where he just decides to pull this little prank. How many times has he done this and what is his success rate for this “intervention”?

I guess we can disagree. Free country, etc........ I chose to not let government douche bags do stuff like that to my kids. Your mileage may differ. You’re a better judge of what will work for your kids than I am.

Twelve high school-aged boys thought they were being shot at in a shop class. You don't think the possibility was high that one or more of them could have taken action to stop that and in the process injured or killed the teacher or themselves? You don't think that in a panic they could have injured themselves?

And if one or more students had killed the idiot teacher they would have to live with that, after finding out later that it was a "joke," for the rest of their lives. Not their fault but you can bet it would haunt them.

Yes, he put people's lives and limbs in danger.

None of the what-if’s you described actually happened so the ‘possibilities’ and ‘could haves’ are irrelevant unless you are somehow advocating for tighter fake-gun control laws so situations like this don’t happen again. Also, your impassioned emotional rant is more indicative of leftist/liberal group-think than logic and reason.

All we know from this case is that a teacher fired a harmless blank gun at young adults in order to scare them or drive some point across. While he acted in poor judgment and should face some sort of reprimand or dismissal from his school district, he committed no actual crime as far as we can tell. The media outlet that covered this case neglected to specify the details (as usual), which led many people to be duped into propagating memes that don’t actually exist.

All I’m trying to do here is help people to NOT be tools.

Be careful Dick Vomer, not all teachers are “government douche bags”

I am a conservative constitutionalist and a high school biology teacher. I left a much higher paying job to do so because I wanted to make a difference in young people’s lives. My decision led me to take the fight directly into enemy territory. You’d be surprised how many people like me there are…all quietly fighting like hell to take back our schools from the despots.

I can assure you, this ‘dumb ass government bureaucrat’ has quietly and stealthily sowed the seeds of free thought, liberty and reason in hundreds of young minds and watched it flourish. These institutions of influence are the ‘real’ battlegrounds in this culture war. Cede it to liberals or ignore it at our peril.

First you'll have to cure yourself of being a tool before you can help others.

Isn't insulting someone then complaining when you get it back a liberal thing?

"It's not the same when 'we' do it!" Wahhhhhh

Now you're lying. You were insulting me and then you cried when I gave it back in kind. Typical neurotic liberal thinking.

Also, your impassioned emotional rant is more indicative of leftist/liberal group-think than logic and reason. ... All I’m trying to do here is help people to NOT be tools.

Look up 'projection' in a psychiatric manual. The only one doing any emotional ranting here is you.

If you bothered to carefully read it you would notice that I didn’t actually accuse you personally of anything...I said your “rant” sounded liberal (not you are a liberal) and “help people” (which I may or may not actually be referring to) but since you now show a guilty conscious (otherwise why be insulted by something not directed at you?)...I’ll take your last post as an apology.

You also failed to mention anything about Ignoratio Elenchi so I’ll assume you ceded that one too.

Providing yet more proof that you're detached from reality.

How cute! That's so Saul Alinsky to couch your insults in a way that you can parse them out later, like a Clinton, to mean anything you want them to.

Your pretentiousness was noted ... as the failure to convince me of your intellectual sophistication that it was.

Which reality? The one where you’ve displayed a preference for emotion over reason and logical fallacies over logic instead of just admit and accept that your thinking was inferior to mine?

When I said I felt sorry for you I meant it…so go run along you bore me.

Feeling sorry for me is your emotional handicap. There was nothing emotional about anything I have said. The fact is the teacher endangered himself and his students by pulling his stupid and illegal stunt. There is nothing illogical about seeing the potential consequences of actions. Only a liberal thinks there won't be any.

Now you run along and try and convince someone else you have a brain because you failed miserably here with your moral equivalence and your dissembling ignorance of your own words.
