It occurs to me that New York City elected its first black mayor in 1989. The results were so disastrous that not only has there not been another black mayor since Dinkins left office, but Republicans have held the mayor's office in New Frickin' York City for almost 20 frickin' years! (And Ray Kelly's got a good shot at extending the streak should he decide to run.)

I'm wonder what long-lasting effect 0bama will have on the presidency ... assuming that the country survives.

While your point is well taken...please don’t include Mayor Bloomberg as a Republican.

Would love to see Ray Kelly in the office.
