"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

He stands for wanting to be the first Mormon president. He has no core philosophy whatsoever.

I hope that Romney’s attitude has changed since he knows now what none of us knew back in 2007/2008. If, like a lot of people did after 9/11, he changes his mind about a lot of things he believed before the tragedy then maybe he’s not as much of a RINO as people are making him out to be.

I’m just sayin’...

Take Dennis Miller for example. Everything changed for him after 9/11, so maybe it has for Romney since the Immaculation, etc.

He’s not sure what he stands for? I don’t know about that. I think his actions have spoken pretty loudly over the years. I think it’s pretty obvious the man takes pride in being able to separate his religious beliefs from his public behavior. Unless I’m told differently, I didn’t know Mormonism supported gay marriage and abortion. Didn’t the LDS fight gay marriage in the California Prop 8 battle? Either way, Mitt governs as a social liberal. His private family life is exemplary, but he has no apparent problem with public policy approaches that destroy other families.

As for his financial genius/fiscal governance, he’s pretty much a typical moderate/centrist. He’s clearly not a socialist in the mold of Obama. On the other hand, there’s no evidence that he wants to seriously tackle the size and scope of government. I don’t see him doing any substantial cuts in government spending, at least not anything like we conservatives want.

That’s my two cents...

I don’t think Conservatives will be happy with his appointees, espically in the judiciary. Any Supreme Court appointee of Romney’s will likely have the same effect on the court as an obama appointee, a marxist will do no more damage than a liberal.

A man that is FOR Romneycare BUT not for Obamacare is a very confused individual..

Voting for Obama is like rubbing AMericas face “in it”..
Voting for Romney is like sitting in a chair after filling your shorts “with it”..

(with a silly smile on your face)..

Hey SoCo, here's another good quote to add to your list:

"if voters are given a choice between a real Democrat and a fake Democrat, they will choose the real Democrat every time."

I can’t rightly fault him for saying that. I, too, am a Republican only by default. Honestly, how can I call myself a Republican if John McCain and Mitch McConnell also call themselves that? I am not of their orientation. What I am is an anti-Dumbcrap.

The way I see it, the Democrat Party is now on the far left, and Mitt Romney is now where the Democrats were 15-20 years ago. Conservatives? We’re effectively disenfranchised. So, yeah, I agree about Romney’s potential SCOTUS nominees. There’s very little difference, ruling wise, between someone like Sandra Day and Elena Kagan. Oh, they might have completely different reasons for crapping all over the US Constitution, but it gets soiled either way.

What a mind-boggling excuse for Romney that is.

You can state that because you are a conservative.

Romney stated it because like now, then he was just a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal.

He’s a politician. I don’t care about his core principals. He clearly is tilting with the wind, as we need him to. As long as he follows our lead and nominates the right SCOTUSes, I’m OK with him.

Not he is not.

Romney has a long and sordid history of stating conservative principles and doing the exact opposite, from taxes, to abortion, to Gay Marriage.

He says one thing, and then does the exact opposite.

He does not have a history of bending to public opinion.

He does have a history of lying about his conservative positions and then implementing by hook or crook the progressive, left-wing, alternative.

FRiend, what has happened is nearly all the “blue dog” dems have moved into the GOP tent and left the commies to run the democratic party. The Blue dog “GOP” have allied with the old school globalist RINO’s and we conservatives are triangulated out of our own party.
