I have no friends — none — that are over 55 and have not been laid-off from their long-time jobs and replaced with workers who cost the company less. If there is another special interest group that needs forming, it’s us: Over 55 and Screwed Out of Our Jobs. Where’s OUR bailout??

Our economy is adjusting to “the new normal”; imagine how much less employees cost if they don’t put those miserable children on the insurance plan? Imagine how much easier it is to pay someone who will probably never have a mortgage or a (planned) child?
I know a lot of people around 45 that have lost their jobs, and they are in the same boat.
Obama will never win the upcoming election; everyone in these horror stories has parents, children, siblings, spouses, friends, etc. There is no way there are enough people watching their futures disappear that will support this Bolshevik.
We have to make sure our young people understand that the world has changed - that jobs are an apprenticeship for real life - i.e., running their own businesses - and that by age 40 they had better be ready to leave the corporate nest and fly on their own. To most employers these days, a 55-year-old "employee" is about the equivalent of a 30-year-old high school student who still lives at home with his parents.
I am seeing this happen with greater frequency as well. Hmmm.....
