The jury that sent Marcus Robinson to death row had nine whites, two blacks and one American Indian. [Judge Greg Weeks ruled] that prosecutors removed 50 percent of all qualified black jurors from serving on the jury, but removed only 14.8 percent of all other jurors.

I could not find any statement in the article to the effect the convict in question did not, in fact, commit the murder. The net effect of laws like this, the antiprofiling movement, the attack on stand your ground laws is to create a black exemption from criminal prosecution involving white judgement that the particular black committed the crime. In short blacks are being moved into privileged status as were the nobles and high churchmen of old.

One other thing...
Except for a few words mentioning that Prosecutors will appeal, there is not ONE critical quote about this decision provided by the author.
Half the article is devoted to quotes from the Judge, who is on the record publicly praising the new law.
The ACLU and a Carolina based anti-death penalty group are quoted.
Two different academic studies supporting the decision are quoted or summarized.

How ironic, the white boy who was murdered was 17 years old, the same age as....Trayvon.
Next up whites appealing their death sentence with the claim that the only reason they are sentenced to death is to make up for all the death sentences for blacks
How did a law as ridiculously stupid as this even get passed in North Carolina. I assume Democrats must have controlled the legislature and Governors mansion, but I’d still have thought NC was conservative enough not to enact something this idiotic.
No court in North Carolina concerned themselves as to the fact that the defendant was guilty and the propriety of the death penalty in his case. The court and legislature merely forbade the application of the death penalty to a black if the jury is white. The net result is the granting the black a privileged status.

If I lived in North Carolina, I would be heading for the State Line before sundown.

The Democrats controlled the General Assembly until very recently. The new Republican controlled one tried to repeal this one but couldn’t override Governor Perdue’s veto- this time.
They may get me, but they won't be getting a virgin and while they are getting a meal, I will get a sandwich.

Most people don't realize the state is 22% Black.
35% of the state is non-white or foreign born.
In state wide elections, roughly 70% of whites must vote for the GOP to get a majority.
That's a tall order.
In Georgia the numbers are even worse.
Close to 44% of voters are non-white or foreign born.
For the last year I've predicted that Georgia could swing to Obama in 2012.
