Gingrich North Carolina Stops Called Off, Then On Again
ABC News ^ | 4-21-12 | Dover

Posted on 04/20/2012 6:32:53 PM PDT by VinL

The Newt Gingrich campaign found itself in a state of confusion Friday night when reports surfaced that Gingrich would cancel all of his stops in North Carolina next week, fueling suggestions that Gingrich would be suspending his campaign. But the campaign says nothing is happening.

Two people close to the Gingrich campaign told ABC News they were contacted and told all of Gingrich’s North Carolina stops had been canceled, although R.C. Hammond, communications director for the campaign, said there was a “communication glitch.”

“There was confusion, but we will maintain our North Carolina schedule next week,” Hammond said.

One person close to the campaign said the stops were certainly canceled, then resumed after news reports left looming suspicion, even among his own staff, that Gingrich was suspending his campaign.

On Friday, the vice chairman of the North Carolina Republican party told the Shelby Star that he was contacted and told a stop a tavern in Kings Mountain, N.C. was canceled. (edit)

Hammond denied the stops were resumed purely to extinguish speculation Gingrich was dropping out.

“The North Carolina guys were instructed that the schedule was going to be redone so they called and told people, now they’ve got to call and tell them it’s back on,” Hammond said.

Gingrich will campaign in Delaware Saturday and will also campaign there Monday in a final push to pick up delegates. Hammond said Gingrich will not be dropping out any time soon, and certainly not before Tuesday.

Nah. Friend Steelfish doesn’t want Newt out— whatever would he do with his time, if he couldn’t continue dogging Newt to withdraw?

I agree that Newt is awesome and I will stick with him until he either upsets the convention or retreats to fight another day.

Wow....glad that was cleared up...NEwt’s still in but this was from ABC so I didn’t put much weight in it. Anymore ya gotta see where it’s coming from because there’s so much propaganda going on to get Newt to yield.

They aren’t just going to cut him off at the knees, they’re going for the whole leg now! If there’s going to be a convention he’ll likely be pulling himself over the finish line by the time they’re through with their attacks. Hoping some more cash might get him over......I’ve not given up yet!

Go Newt Go! We’re still ‘With’ you!!!!!

Wouldn't surprise me to find out that the Romney people are engaging in a last ditch disinformation campaign. Hell... I'd like to know how they "Women for Romney" got my private cell phone number. They've been texting me trying to get me to vote for romney. I've contacted my phone service provider and told them that I am being spammed by romney's campaign and I want to know how they got my number. There is some serious shenanigans taking place and it's pissing me off. I certainly don't want to support a scumbag that will violate my personal space by making unsolicited phone calls and sending unsolicited text messages to me. If the romney campaign doesn't have enough integrity to not use illegal methods to acquire people's private phone numbers I don't want to support them. If they can't keep a handle on their super pacs and the bonehead shills they have I don't want to support them. And if they will stop at nothing to harass a hard working simple man like me there isn't a doubt in my mind they're trying to sabotage Newt's campaign.

We cannot let this piece of crap get away with his criminal behavior.

JMHO

I’m all for Newt when my turn finally comes to vote in June, but this illustrates the disorganization of his campaign that allowed RINO Romney to railroad him.

You really need to get a grip... and stop posting your Newt Hate around. Santorum QUIT - so did the others. Too bad they don’t have the fortitude, courage and sheer guts Newt does, but badmouthing Gingrich wont’ make cowardly people brave..
BTW, Sheldon Adelson’s wife gave over 5 mil to Newt’s campaign, late last month, and Winning our Future, now has 5.8 mil on hand.
SO... either get your facts straight, stop posting lies about Newt, or get over it.

Why don’t you just go support Romney - who even knows whether you did from the start?

Uh, this is a typical Romney trick. He did it before in Nevada: call a LOCAL news outlet, give them what they think is a scoop, then a national outlet picks it up and reports on it. Until finally someone gets around to contacting the campaign... ABC news and "people close to the Gingrich campaign". How can you blame Newt for the reptilian media and romney campaign working in concert?

GOT PHONE?

Make calls for Newt in DE this weekend:

What Gingrich says, does, thinks, where he appears, what he plans are all irrelevant. After his clobbering in Florida he should have quit. It was evident that he had baggage that would sink a fleet of cruise liners and a gender gap that would be oceans apart. His permanent moon-based colonies within eight years and $2.50 gas/gallon in two years was an agenda laced with kood-aid. Santorum was the obvious choice with 11 state wins, a super one day trifecta, and all on a shoe string budget. He came within a whisker of 3% of beating Romney in MI and within less than 1% in OH. Had Gingrich withdrawn, Santorum would have beaten Romney and we’d be on a different trajectory today. Now that Romney is the presumptive nominee, the realistic view is to mitigate the damage and make sure that Romney hews to the conservative agenda should he be the nominee. This is what Mark levin and Rush hope for as well. Indeed, Gingrich himself has said that Romney will be the “likely nominee” and he will enthusiastically support the party nominee. Forget Gingrich. If we are to take stock of the real world he’s now utterly irrelevant. The only question is to make sure we have a strong VP. This is now the talk of the town, not Gingrich.

Who gives a frack what the “town” is talking about? The ONLY way to get someone decent in the White House now is to make Gingrich surge in the next 19 states so that Romney doesn’t get 1,144 delegates and it goes to a convention vote. Even Romney knows there’s a good chance this will happen since he was begging RNC super delegates to sign “loyalty pledges” on Friday that would cover MULTIPLE ballots at the convention. In a floor fight, even your beloved Saintorum has another chance to get on the ticket.

For crying out, some of these Santorum folk have venom and idiocy running through their veins. Until he ran in those Beauty contents he was dead in the races, and then he dropped out before he was about to lose his home state. Sheeesh. Talk about clearing the slate for Romney. His precious Bella was also hospitalized during FL.
