The prostitution scandal which has devastated the Secret Service could be set to spread to the White House. A senior Republican has urged the investigation into what happened in Colombia ahead of Barack Obama's trip there to extend to presidential staff who were preparing for his visit. Senator Charles Grassley's comments came on the day that three more Secret Service agents who had been sent home over the incident resigned from the agency. Also on Friday, Mr Obama received a personal briefing on the state of the investigation from Mark Sullivan, director of the Secret Service. -------- Mr Sullivan visited the White House late on Friday to brief Mr Obama in the Oval Office. The U.S. agents and military personnel involved could face criminal charges if is proven that they had sex with girls under the age of 18. When Darrell Issa, the Republican chairman of the House Government Oversight and Reform Committee, was asked if any of the men had done so, he said neither he nor Mr Sullivan could be certain. ‘In the case of the 11 agents, the primary determination is you can’t determine to charge or not charge somebody until you know whether a crime is committed,’ he said, according to The Daily Beast.

I can’t get the names. I went into my “History” and pulled up a couple of threads, but because they were pulled, I can’t get any info. Only this;

Well, it used to be 12 in some Southern states, IIRC. That was how Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 yr old bride.It was generally 15 in Spanish speaking countries, which is the origin of the quinceanera, the 15th birthday party, which meant you were officially marriageble, somewhat like the 16 yr old’s “coming out” party in US high society. A low age of consent wasn’t that uncommon, either here or in Latin America, but it was for the purposes of marriage and not prostitution.

Prostitution is legal in a number of Latin American countries, although not like the Dutch, who practically have state-run cathouses.

Still, this story makes no sense. As I said in another post, it changes: first there were “some” prostitutes hired by “some” SS personnel, then there were 22 prostitutes (one per guy) and now it says “at least one” SS member hired a prostitute?

Also, the SS people have gone from being the advance detail to being the dog handlers and other low level SS employees to being the people actually assigned to protection detail...to now being WH staffers?

Who knows? ...maybe “underage girls” in other countries is below 12. If so, then the SS men were legal.

I’m pretty sure Congress passed legislation so sex tourists could be prosecuted under US law. I think it’s called the Protect Act.

Anyone employed by the US government can not have a sexual relationship with anyone under the age of 18 even if it is legal in another country.

Well I'm just going to have to see that law to believe it.

Let me know which one it is...@Federal Sex Crimes Law

Nope. The Protect Act of 2003...

Authorizes fines and/or imprisonment for up to 30 years for U.S. citizens or residents who engage in illicit sexual conduct abroad, with or without the intent of engaging in such sexual misconduct.[5]

-snip-

For the purposes of this law, illicit sexual conduct includes commercial sex with anyone under 18,[6]
